500-600 in parts.

and the time it takes to remove the tranny from the car. While you do that might as well throw a new clutch and flywheel in the mx too. Maybe even a focus shift tower and updated synchros...hehe. It's too easy to spend money...

If you pull the tranny you do not do the Focus shift tower (search in Transaxle as it's been discussed many times).

LSD ~$600
clutch & flywheel ~$750
shift forks, synchros, misc. ~$100

Please read the Duratec Sticky at the top of this forum which has a "what should I do first / next" FAQ in it.

haha, yea I just wrote what popped in my head in the few seconds I wrote it. Ignore the Shift Tower...Shift Forks tho!...

what kind of labor time are we looking at for the lsd/clutch/shift forks+random required accessories.
my friend has a lift in his garage (we are doing a stage 2 clutch kit in his 03 gti 1.8t) and we have all the tools. so basically 2 people with a decent amount of knowledge between the 2.

5-9 hrs for removal depending on if you run into any issues with rusty bolts etc. Lots of info in the transaxle forum. I suggest pulling it and shipping it to Terry Haines. About $1500 for labor and parts for a Quaife equipped trans and replacement of some parts that may be worn.

I'd suggest doing a 3L if you are going to go to all the trouble of pulling the transmission out. There is almost no difference in time pulling the transmission then there is pulling the entire motor and transmission out. If you can wait save yourself a lot of time and money by doing it all at once. If your not going to do a 3L then forget I said anything. At the very least do headers for the car. One of the best mods for our cars.
