ok, no 3L swap, if i'm going to spend 1500-2000 dollars I'm going to do a slight bore and make it into a rev monster, it was designed by porsche and it still has the soul.
Theres about a 18% loss through the mtx.

bfgoodrich traction ta's I dunno , they work just fine in the winter, I really don't care about traction in the winter anyway, because there isn't any. Let me remind you I live in the frozen wasteland of north dakota, it's cold, it's slipery, and most of the time you can't see, but durring the summer it's perfect.

Actually, the cherrybomb is a self replacing piece. Given some time, moisture, and heat. Pretty soon, there will be a nice fibreglass puff sticking out of the tailpipe. It will have grown into a wonderfully loud empty cavity.

not all of the glass goes out the back, just some of it burns off and the sound will get louder over time but it will be about the same tone etc. I know, I put the exact same thing on my 96 2.0 ztec and it was great for the whole time, thing still goin strong too, sold it to a friend after I bought the 98. btw the v6 and 5 spd is exactly what this car needed to make it really fun, 2.0 was fun, but this is really really fun, real squirly in 1st and 2nd gear though. how much is the lsd mod for the mtx in the 98's anyway???

500-600 in parts.
and the time it takes to remove the tranny from the car. While you do that might as well throw a new clutch and flywheel in the mx too. Maybe even a focus shift tower and updated synchros...hehe. It's too easy to spend money...

If you pull the tranny you do not do the Focus shift tower (search in Transaxle as it's been discussed many times).
LSD ~$600
clutch & flywheel ~$750
shift forks, synchros, misc. ~$100
Please read the Duratec Sticky at the top of this forum which has a "what should I do first / next" FAQ in it.

hmmmm I had my car looked at when the brake pads were being replaced while I was at work, it seems that one of the cv joints is getting kinda sloppy, I'm not doing anything to it now since it is winter and acceleration is not a problem right now. but anyway if I do end up getting traction and snapping forward very quickly it's not going to tear/break the joint/remove the wheel/assembly from the car, or is it??
I don't notice any problems driving it so I dunno.
