98 4cyl automatic.
Was messing with the window buttons trying to fix. Nothing out the ordinary happened. Drove down to radioshack to buy a temp button and when i turned on the car to leave, it wouldnt shift out of park. It's not the transmission, it's the release mechanism that prevents you from shifting out of park without the brake being pressed.
It sounds and feels normal, just wont release. Checked the fuses under the hood, they looked fine, although I'm no professional. Any ideas where to look?

. Your brake lights are probably not working too. Check the brake fuse (no. 24 in the Passenger Compartment Fuse Box) with a tester or change it. Looks can be deceiving.
