just like the title says.
i picked her up yesterday and everything is perfect on her. 73,500 miles. 1998.5 black CSVT.
today i was driving her all day, and i went to take a U turn, i geuess i brought the rpms too high, let it out and nothing but a racing engine went off.
so i tried 2nd. nothing. 3rd nothing. i was able to coast all the way into a parking lot. i thought if i let it cool down for a bit it might catch again. (sometimes hot clutches can do that)
so while i waited, my friend and i waxed her, (shes gorgeous).
so, whats the damage guys? blown clutch for an OEM replacement by the book im hearing 4 to 6 hours labor. so around 500 to 600 for labor and parts.
let me know.

With a little good luck, it may not be the clutch. Check your CV joints and shafts.
With a bad luck, it may be the diff.
I hope your luck is running good. A clutch or the diff (inside the trans) is not a cheap repair.

If it's a clutch, check here for a new SVT clutch for $300. Otherwise, check out www.specclutch.com for a Stage 1 clutch. A blown diff is big $$$$$. Mark

Possibly a shift tower bolt, which wouldn't be NEAR as expensive.

Yeah, as stated above, there a few different possible problems.
Maybe you can meet up with one of us in NE-CEG and see what they say after looking in person.

Did you wax your car in some random parking lot?? I would of been a lot more worried about getting my car back on the road... O yeah and DO NOT waste your money on Bosch Platinum 4's. They are expensive and really not worth it at all! Hit or miss!

It wasn't just some random parking lot. it was during the day, and it was hot and i just so have pulled into a starbucks parking lot.. and what could i have done about the car? i didnt want to get worked up about it, we were waiting for the flat bed, so me and my buddy waxed the car.

can you feel every gear still?
my shift tower bolt came out, and it was in neutral, just wouldnt go into a gear. if you can put it in every gear and you still feel the guides (put it in first, if you cant go directly sideways into 5th its still in.) then you are in trouble. i hear that a blown diff will make the car clunk when you try to move it, not sure though. a blown clutch would usually grab to some extent, so you would be able to make it move. if you can take the shifter and move it in a circle, then the gear selector shaft bolt is laying in the bottom of your tranny.
