I feel for you.. I have already lost one, myself.. Wasn't even that much damage, relatively speaking. Still a write-off, though. I am glad you walked away... That in itself is worth more than ANY car... even an SVT . Here's to you, and your fallen love.. Ray

Ouch! Sorry to hear it! My Contour got totalled recently and I know what it's like. Any plans on what to replace it with?

"She said she never saw me," That's what they all say. A 16 year old girl pulled out in front of me once w/o looking, said same thing. Lucky it was a minor dent.

Humans aren't.

Agreed that maybe she couldn't see me, who knows. She got the ticket from the cop. I was doing about 45 in a 45 zone, so I wasn't speeding. Still no word on the car though, it was hit kinda funny, up high since the truck was jacked up so her bumper ending up tearing into my hood, it didn't look that bad from the side. Hopefully I'll get to see it tomorrow and find out more from the body shop, I need to get some stuff out of it anyways. I'd probably get another SVT if it gets totalled, we'll see though. I know firsthand now that they're pretty safe in crashes .

Just curious as to what exactly happens when you total a car, such as the SVTC, where you can't exactly replace it and the accident isen't your fault...... who pays for this? do you get a new car................. hmmm???

Eric -- when a car is totalled, you get a check for the value of the car. It doesn't matter if it's a 1953 Corvette (that'd be a nice check) or a Yugo. It's your problem to replace it, which blows. Esp if you've taken excellent care of the car, which adds nothing to its value when it is totalled.

Body shop says 11k of damage, which is about what its worth, so for all intensive purposes it's totalled. The insurance company needs to take a look now, so I'm waiting on them.
My only concern is ending up upside down on the loan after the payoff, I've had the car a year now and it's a 5 year loan. I've been paying extra every month to pay it off so hopefully that helps. That and I just put new KDW's on it 2 months ago, we'll see what the adjuster says.

Ever heard of Insurance? J/K, but seriously, that's who pays for your new car (hopefully). In this case, it's who ever's at fault (their insurance pays), and if not, then your insurance pays and your rates still go up. Either way, sucks to lose yet another tour. As long as you walk away alive, I call it good.
