are you running a set of headers? maybe thats why. my manifold never glows. perhaps its the metal of the ex. mans on 2.3T cars.

as long as that A/F is staying low *12.5ish* it sounds cool to me.

Not to mention, stage two of project Silvinator just might flow to much for a T28 anyway... Just asking...
Chris, I was thinking the same thing as Brad is now building my low compression 3.0. Do I contact you on costs for just piping? I'm doing some reading on turbo availabilities and types now (well, for a while now laugh ) and I'd like to add my own. I'm tossing methanol injection in the air as cooling and raising octane content and keeping head loss to the throttle body to a minimum.
Will StreetFlight be doing this for us? Thanks!!

Don its not the header, its the turbine housing[exhaust side]of the turbo. Don its nothing to worry about, its normal and besides you can only see it at night so its not like its so hot its going to melt. All turbo's do this with prolonged high RPM driving. The turbo is THE restriction in the exhaust, so of course more heat collects there. wink

Suggestion from the peanut gallery #58374.

How about making the part of the exhaust that is "exposed" replacable without welding, flanges, gaskets and what not. For those of us you think speed bumps are good ways to test suspension travel...

sounds like someone needs a bigger exhaust housing, or a bit of porting... wink

Roger-
The silver box to on top of the turbo is actually a smaller radiator(intercooler) that circulates water through it. It then goes through a heat exchanger in the lower grill and then back to the resovoir tank that I have in the trunk. I can add ice to the tank to really improve the intercooler effect. HTH
