I've never been to a Chicago meet. I've been trying to get a meet going in my area, but to no avail. I know there are CEGers nearby because I've seen the CEG stickers in a couple windows.
What I'm finding is that it's hard to get meets organized. I give props to the guys 90 miles south who actually do get together, even if its just to watch mud wrestling. Social meets can be just as fun as car-oriented meets.
I can't comment on the inter-personal relationships, as I avoid flame fests as best I can. Once I get my rebuilt tranny next week
I'd actually like to travel down and see what a meet is all about in Chi-town. I know with the cold months coming up that we probably won't spend much time under hoods outside, but still, I think it'd be good to meet some CEG'ers and swap stories.
