Why would you say that? The point was i was well beyond the 112MPH limit
Well, I was joking (see laughing icons), but now that you mention it, a stock SE won't push 7K in 5th gear. Not enough HP, not even a stock SVT can go that fast.
So, either you were in 4th, your tach is off, or your clutch was slipping.
My guess is a stock SE prolly can grab about +/- 125MPH before it runs out of steam. You need the xtra 30 ponies in an SVT (plus some of the aero stuff) to reach 143 (and that still isn't 7K RPM).
Twice the speed is 4 times the horsepower. It takes about 4x the HP to do 100 as to do 50. it takes 9 times the HP to do 150 as to do 50. (This is only accounting for wind resistance, their is some rolling resistance too, but I am disregarding that for this example). So if your car needs 20 horsepower for steady, 50 MPH, it takes 180 for 150MPH.
Add in rolling resistance now, and drive train friction and you are just over 200 HP. There's your SVT territory.
170HP ain't going 150 without a 50 mph tailwind and downhill run. FWIW and IMHO
So does your clutch Slip?
