I recently got back from a trip to Mackinaw City, Michigan and I got 28 mpg highway. Not to bad considering I was averaging 78 mph and nothern Michigan has a lot of small hills form Grayling to the bridge.

I average about 25. Some highway/country road (3/4) while the rest is a mix of city, and town driving.

i divide the miles by the gallons i put in on a fill up not the gas tank size. If we all get this terrible mileage how did the EPA get there Numbers cuz they are way different

I believe the tanks are 15.4 gallons or so. There seems to be debate over the size, but I have filled mine multible times with over 15 gallons. Usually I just figure on about 40 miles after the light comes on. Oh, and I average about 23mpg with mostly highway driving.

23-24mpg in mixed driving with a VERY lead foot. 0-60 time trials every stop light. Okay maybe I skip one or two. Tops! I have seen 28-30mpg in straight highway cruising at a set speed (70-80mph) I've never seen below 20mpg even in testing and racing on a full tank.

Demon, you must live in the boonies or something to get away with the driving you speak of Not for us suburbanite dwellers unfortuantely ... I'm currently seeing about 280-300 miles/tank in mixed driving. Thats with new plugs/fuel filter, clean UIM and TB, and dirty LIM and (filthy)stock air intake. Once I clean the LIM and put my new intake in, Im sure my high speed mileage will improve, at speeds where the secondaries are open (above 80 mph) and airflow is important.

According to most sites, the spec is 14.5 gallons on a tank. I think if you're getting more than 15 gallons in the tank, you should report that gas station because you're probably getting ripped off.
There have been a couple of times where I was at a cheap gas station where I thought I was putting in a little too much gas because I hadn't thought the gas gauge was reading that low, but I've never really put more than 14 gallons in. I think it's also bad to run your tank so low that you need it fill it all the way up, I'm told that it burns out your fuel pump prematurely as the gas is used as a heat sink to cool the pump.
Oh, and I've always gotten around 20 mpg, sometimes 22 mpg when there's a lot of highway.

thats what i said in my post, divide by 12 (usually the amount you fill up if you waited last minute to do so).
