Dean, I think that's a great idea and I'd check back regularly to see what's up for grabs!
As far as the limiting the number of people to buy tix, that's iffy with me. How can you donate 25% to the CEG board if you limit it to the price of the product? Maybe limit it to the price of the product and 25% or something.
As far as allowing people to buy more than one ticket maybe try one of each and see how they work out or limit their share to a certain percentage of the total # of tix sold.

the product will be raffled at the manufacturers suggested retail price. the donation to ceg will be 25% of the profits generated, not 25% of the entire sale.

Dean - This is the best idea to come around CEG in a long time. I like your enthusiasm and dedication to this site! I'm in!

Also, there should be a way to make sure that the same person doesn't win the raffle twice in a row...

P.S. -- As an idea, start with the S-AFC!

Someone mentioned when BOFH was gonna raffle his car off to use a certain's state's lottery and the last two numbers are assigned to each individual or something like that... to make the drawing fair.

just get pieces of paper and number them like 1-?? and draw. simple as that. I have been in some of the neco raffles and they raffle a lot of differnt stuff. they have done mobil one oil. a wing. body kit I think. hoods. tons of stuff. I say start off with something that everybody would be able to use and would want to use so that we can get everybody aware of the raffles so that they will at least know we have them and to check and see if there intrestered in buying a ticket. do the mobil one oil. get like 6qts of it and raffle that off. tickets could be $1 each and you could sell prolly 100 plus tickets with something like that. you would spend 30 on the oil and make a good profit and ceg would make money to and everybody would know about these raffles. I would buy 10 tickets to the oil easy.

instead of raffling off actual product, you could raffle off gift certificates. When the person uses this gift certificate to purchase from you, you could then donate a portion of that sale to CEG. The good thing about a gift certificate is that the buyer may end up buying more than say the $500, paying the difference of course, but then also becoming a nice loyal customer.

If you check out NECO, as was suggested above, they've been doing this quite frequently lately to raise funds for Cougarfest.
Unlimited amount of raffle tickets can be bought by each person. The tickets are purchased through paypal, and those buying tickets are able to see a list of who has bought tickets so far. I'm not sure what method they use to pick the winner, but I think it's worth checking into.
They may even approach you as a seller to participate in their raffles - they're especially hungry for vendors who sell car audio products right now.

I think it's a great idea. NECO has had great success with this.

Hi my name is someone.

On another forum that I frequent they use a lottery ( http://www.illinoislottery.com/numbers.htm or can be seen live on SuperSation WGN Channel 9 (Most cable and sat providers carry this station....)) so everybody can watch the drawing you pick the date and use the pick 3 number for that day and drop the first number from it so if the number is

890 = ticket 90
776 = ticket 76
345 = ticket 45

If somebody can rig the lottery I think they would rig it for a better prize than your car (nothing against your car but I think winning the lottery would be more fun for most people)

This seems to work out pretty good there.

this works for 100 tickets quite well for other numbers you would have to translate the numbers into what your numbers need to be in your orginal offer.

20 tickets

00-19

you drop the first number and use the second two numbers. if the first number of the second two numbers is even you call it a 0 if it is odd you call it a 1 and then whatever the last number is you just use that. As long as you make sure that everybody has an equal chance to win.
