Oh, I bout forgot! I also have just finished my false floor for the trunk. It's all finished with black felt and it fits pretty well, methinks. I used a 30" silver piano hinge for the spare tire door. The trap door to get to the spare tire and a couple tools is (IIRC) 32" long and 14.5" tall. The door is finished with a simple silver handle and I put the Ford badge from the front grill a few inches above the handle. Bling.

i also built something like that. i think i made it out of a 3/4" wood sheet. although i don't have a door like yours, mine is in two halves. it worked out pretty good.

How do you like those L5s? I am thinking about a single 12" L5 powered by a JBL BP1200.1 in a custom box in the Escape "trunk". Here is what I used to have in the Contour *sniff* Click
'01 Escape XLT V6 on S100
CDT Audio/Ascendant Audio/Rockford/JBL/Knukonceptz setup
'00 SE Sport ATX
