My Roush Bondurant CSVT

Why he bought a Bondurant Svt:confused: ? There's a difference between collector items and novelties. This car is a novelty.

Wow, just wow! You really do not see the big picture huh? This is one of 5 purpose-built race cars! You are truly not an enthusiast if you don't see the value in that!:nonono: It may not be worth much now, but neither were Hemi Superbirds back in the day either. Yeah, they were raced in NASCAR, but they could hardly move them off the lots because they looked so outrageous. Now how much do they go for?? Nuff said.

Livinsvt's car has more work into it than all the bondurant cars put together.... His overmodification of his svt would classify as an enthusiast in my book.

All he is trying to say is that the car itself in this moment in time is not all that popular/respected/etc. There are modern day cars that will retain their value down the road (exige, gt40, new shelby cars) etc. Its just hard to imagine a Contour having any collector value

I know he has alot of work done to his car and I also know what he was saying. I was trying to figure out where he was getting it from (hence my history lesson with the Superbird, a lesson learned from the past) Who knows what the future holds as far as the value of these cars, but to totally rule it out and pretty much say it will always be worth very little was a pretty bold statement IMO.

The color is called PPG Yellow, I imagine PPG has more than one yellow and I am in the process of trying to find the correct paint code for some touch-ups

If you could PM the paint code I would appreciate it, I'm in the process of looking for a new color for the bike and I'm diggin this yellow A LOT.

Dude its not a race car. Its a stock car with some safety modifications and maybe a few heavy duty parts. Race cars don't have full interiors for one. With a little more work it could easily be a race car. Hence why I mentioned it is a great start for a track day autocross car. Alot cheaper and easier to buy this than to make one yourself. I have been around a few race cars, I know the difference trust me.

Superbirds>Contours The superbird went from being an enthusuast only loved car, to a collectors item. How did it go from there. When the value of anything hemi went through the roof, bringing the bird with it, also the superbird has a lot bigger heritage. More people can relate. I.E. Nascar, the largest racing orginazation, the largest fan backing, and arguably the longest racing heritage in the U.S. (Drag racing is there too). I don't think were gonna see Duratecs spring like hemis in the collector market, nor does the Contour have the heritage or accolades to go with it. Those are the little things that make a collector, and not a novelty. I see a few people understand. I will say it again, it will only be worth anything to the enthusaists that are around now.

Probaly the first few ever built production SVT's that are in Fords storage would be worth anything. I could see somone paying in the 20g range for those down the road, that would be the only exception I can think of.

I can't see too many of today's cars commanding over 100x's their value, so just go out and enjoy that BB CSVT. The comparison between a Hemi-powered car and a CSVT is obsurd, sorry:nonono:

Terribly sorry to offend you, maybe you could come up with something better? I was trying to show a similar example. I know comparing a Contour SVT to a Superbird is absurd now, but where they were then IS similar. I know the value blew up with the Hemi. Let me change my example then. How about the 440 Supebird? Still commands a king's ransom, but not quite as much as a hemi. They still didn't move off the lots very well back in the day. Alot of todays cars it would be hard to compare to cars of yesteryear when they were just about all "muscle cars". Contour SVT doesn't really have anything to compare to obviously, so I used a similar example.

if by similar you mean completely opposite sides of the spectrum, then i guess you're right.

the contour is not nor will it ever be comparable to a muscle car...muscle cars are adored by all because they are a throwback to a great time of american and american automotive history....a pretty long period of time i might add. not a 3 year production run of a good car built on a solid...but ultimately failed platform.

Nova........Vega.........Thunderbird.........Cutlass Supreme.........Torino....hell even Grand Prix's....and Monte Carlo not to mention I doubt the 52 Fords and Chevys were anything special back in their day.

My mom had an old Grand Prix... Back then it werent nothin special... Now is a different story... The woman she sold it to wrecked it and my mom wanted to beat the woman... Ugh what a waste:nonono:

most good muscle cars were from 65-71. a six year run....yipppeeee. not much longer than our 3 year.

Contours aren't turds. Everything is relative and a Pinto doesn't enter into a conversation including the Contour in any way, shape or form. Maybe if comparing the Pinto to a Tempo or a late iteration of the Escort then there's some relevance.....The Contour is a completely different story.

The Roush Contour is way cool, you got a very interesting car there....don't let anyone convince you otherwise.

I also say if the Saleen was show worthy and not in the condition it's in, it would be worth considering as well. Another interesting and significant car. However I don't understand the condition vs the asking price.......

SVT Contours are exactly the sort of thing collectors collect. Low production, numbered and rare. Best of all, they're basically unknown to most of society. The Contour has a very cool history and due to its fabled development costs, it's a noteworthy part of Ford's history.

Collector cars are more than muscle cars and what people around here would like to own.

I'm not saying that any SVT Contour will ever be a collector's item, but I think it's pretty dumb to say definitively that it won't happen.
