Well, I finally have something to t-shoot on my GL Zetec. Driving home today and got into a lot of stop and go and the engine temp slowly rose (no a/c on) until it almost hit red. It never actually did, whew! So when I got home I popped the hood, and left the engine running. Neither fan was running. How odd?

Anyway, looks like I got some t-shooting to do.

Any ideas before I start?

Try pulling the plug on the temperature coolant sensor (top of thermostat housing). The fan should come on which will should show you that the fan's working. You can check the resistance on the sensor as well when the engine is hot to see if it's dropping to the correct value (sorry can't recall what that is now). Does the fan come on when you turn the AC on? RockAuto has the cheapest price on a Motorcraft sensor if you need one.
