Wouldn't go so far as to say that. Worth some not to have converter slip but the added 4th gear instead of 3 was worth more. It would help as do all small things when added up together. I'm just amazed at how well a modern 2 liter non hi-perf engine can run, I grew up on Pinto 2 liters, once engine got older you had hell staying up with normal (if you can call 85 mph NORMAL!) freeway traffic.
