other than losing my curb feelers... :(
i was noticing a strange noise while driving out in MI.
it was a squeeking type noise.
i figured it was brakes or somehting.
but now i think it is clutch related.
i got home last night and when i got out of the car to open the garae door i could hear this rubbing/groaning sound.
i think my throwout bearing is about to eat it.
the sucky part is, ford did my clutch when they did my motor.
and i never looked to see if they changed the throwout bearing.
they should have, but you know how dealers work.

grrrrrr

They should have, but you never know....Good luck man, hope it turns out to be something else.

I got a CEL yesterday after spending all day washing and waxing the car. P0140 and P1320. I just cleared them at Autozone and will see if they come back.

And I lost my borrowed wifi because an idiot neighbor set up an AP titled 'notmywifi' which disabled the DHCP of the first router and so my other neighbor wised up and unplugged the router. I am typing this on my cell (getting good at T9!).

At least it was a wonderful weekend!

i dunno how anyone can use T9. I've tried, and have only gotten words not even close to what i was aiming for.

anyway...i dunno mike. on my old car the TO bearing was defninitely going bad, and it sounded alot like supercharger whine when shifting (clutch in). didn't sound like your noise, and i don't think it'd be doing it with the clutch out and the car idling in neutral. but then again i'm not a mechanic.

oh nooo. i have been noticing what sounds like a turbo when my rpm's start going up. not 100% if its clutch in or not.... whats the going rate for a new clutch? :-X

figure 1-2k inlabor, plus parts. total bill for my trans was like $2300 labor plus the cost of a quaife, spec 2 and lightened flywheel...so say like $3500 all said & done. but a stock clutch swap only would be cheaper.

well..the clutch only has 50k on it
but i will most likely just do a clutch swap in the garage.

On the contour is the throw-out bearing built into the hydraulic piston? I know that on some Fords with hydraulic clutch the throw out bearing is built into the slave cylinder.

Not only is there the throw out bearing but there is also another bearing. I'm not sure of the name but I know it works like this: The throw out bearing is used only when the clutch pedal is depressed and it is the contact surface surface between the slave cylinder and the pressure plate. The other bearing that I am thinking of is part of the flywheel and supports the input shaft of the transmission. The throw out bearing only carries a load when the clutch is depressed. The other bearing carries a load at all times but only has motion when there is a difference between engine rpm and transmission RPM.

I just thought of that because when I had my old truck that other bearing had a problem. .It was making a raquet but only when I pushed the clutch. I thought it was the throw out bearing. I checked the T-O bearing and it was fine. Then I looked in my Haynes manual and it showed another bearing inside the flywheel. I dropped the tranny (gerrr, iron gear box, no fun to try to move) and I found the other bearing to be very worn. It was just a simple brass bushing but it was worn out so much the transmission shaft fit into it like a broomstick into a barrel. Cheap fix though, $6.50 for the brass bushing or $25 for a sealed roller bearing unit.

yes the throw out bearing is part of the slave cylinder .... not sure on the 2.5 with a mtx but the taurus 3L has a bushing in the flywheel ... in fact you have to remove it to fit the mtx to a 3L so that is why I am not sure the 2.5 has one ....

complete symptoms:
While out in MI i notices a squeaking while rolling, almost sounded like brake pad squeak, but its not.
also the squeak turns into a slight howl while letting the clutch out to start rolling.

got home and whenever the car is running and the clutch is out there is a groaning/rubbing sound.
put the clutch in and it goes away.

Elky I picked up a stock SVT clutch kit from teamford I can bring sunday if you want it, I dont need it yet, will be same cost as from teamford if your interested

Slightly off topic but, I've noticed my SVT's clutch feels like its grabbing really high. It might just be my imagination because of driving the MS6 a lot lately. It doesn't slip or anything. Would bleeding the clutch help? It could be from lack of use I think.

my clutch has grabbed super high ever since ford put a new clutch in.
i think they forgot to bleed it.
so, yes mike i think bleeding it will help the pedal.

brian, does the clutch kit come with the slave/throwout?
and if so, can you PM me a price?

my brother in law can get me the throwout/slave for about $80
but i didnt ask about the cutch.
i guess while i am in there i might as well do it all, eh?

who wants to help me pull my tranny out the side?

after helping pole and hetfield pull frostys tranny, it is kinda sucky to take it ot the wheel well, but i dont feel like pulling my entire motor.
at least not during the summer when i could be drivin it, haha

i have to think about it.
if i do pull the motor it will make some things easier and i could do some extra detailing and stuff to the motor,

plus when i didn my lower control arms, i couldnt get the front subframe bolt out, so the whole motor might have to come out.

bah!!!!
