Ok this has happened to me a few times when it raining out. When i go through a big puddle I lose power steering and my belts start to squeal. Now i've searched the old and new forums for some help on this topic and i came across some mention of a "splash guard"

I can't seem to find one for the V6 engine anymore. Does anyone know where i can get these from? Any help would be appreciated.

how are the wheel wheels? sometimes, when i go through big puddles, this happens to me, but water is getting shoved into the engine because my wheel wheels, the plastic in there arent connected to the front bumper anymore, and they were eaten away by the tires... otherwise, dont know!

ok I'm going to take a look at the wheel wells today. Any idea why i wouldn't have the cover? I read that it came on all 98's and up. What do they look like? Thanks for the help

Wheel wells are fine. Anyone have a picture of the splash guard so i can see if i have one installed.

Splash Shield

Splash Shield

I purchased this from Ford and installed it myself. I guess Ford doesn't sell it anymore.

Do you happen to have a picture of it. I'm just not sure what to look for. I looked under the car and in the hood and I didn't see a shield around the alternator or belts

i hate to ask, but beleive it or not, if you have a foglight wire hanging down, that can cause a short as well, i had this issue when i had my AAS Bumper on and the fog light wires were gettign wet...

I'll see if I can't get you a picture. You might call Bill Jenkins Ford parts and see if he can get you one...........

Even with the splash gaurd, wheel wells, etc. in place I still get the same problem when going through puddles a little to fast. I have never had it happen at highway speeds only below 15 mph in parking lots, or side streets.

yeah i've never had a problem with it at highway speeds either, but even when i go through puddles slowly i have still problems.

I am bring it back from the dead: did anyone have a picture of the splash guard?

I think so too, I need to get one as I am getting a cold air intake with the 3L build... but cant seem to fnd a part number... and had wanted a picture just to make sure!

the airdam/belly plate has nothing to do with this. its the plastic shields that go around the crank and the alternator in the wheel well ....
