I have my car apart in my sisters garage. I have never taken apart my front brakes. I need to know how to get the caliper carrier bracket off. I cant seem to figure out wht size it is.

Help?!?!?!?

Forgot to mentrion, I am supposed to be going out of town tomorrow. I would like to ge tthese done tonight.

Edit: I shouldnt say that I dont know how. I see how. But every sixe socket I have WILL NOT fit the bolts correctly.

make sure you use six point sockets and not twelve point sockets. Twelve point sockets have a tendency to strip stuck on bolts. It could be that you have the right size and are using a 12 point instead of a 6 point.

I tried. I have since given up on this car. Ya know I really think that the people that dislike Ford really are right. Oh well. Ill probably sell this car and buy a non Ford product.

I might not if I could find a cheap pre 98. But that wont happen cause none of them are cheap. Im just tired of dealing with ****. I mean seriously. The car is under 100k and it has timing chain chatter. WTF!? I have driven and seen countless amounts of cars and NEVER seen that problem before.

I just have gotten tired of dealing with these screwy problems Ford has. I work at a Yota dealer. Maybe they can hook me up with somethin cheap.

NOOOOOOO DON'T GO YOTA!!!! Dude, pre98's are MAD cheap! It's relatively easy to find them under $2k...One with only 35000 miles just sold for $1750!

Yeah well I cant seem to find anything around here.

I wasnt thinking specifically a Yota. But some ive seen havent been too bad.
I drove a Seqouia today that I really like. It was a limited. Only I think that would be a lil outta my price range.

Don't you think you might be over reacting a little wanting to sell your car because you can't get the caliper bracket bolt off?

You might have caused your own problem using the wrong socket sizes stripping/rounding off the bolt before actually finding out which one was the correct size.

You could try using some PB Blast, Liquid Wrench, etc if it's stuck on to help loosen it up.

Or you might need a low profile bolt remover ala:http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00952166000P?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&pid=00952166000 Which of course means you would need to replace the bolt w/ a new one once you got it out.

Im not overreacting. Its not just this thats makin me get mad at this car.(I already stated that). The bolt IS NOT stripped. And I already tried the PB blast. Nothing will help. Im not worryin about it too much anymore. Edit: as the car is goin into the newspaper tomorrow.

NO NO NOOOOO. Dude get some air tools or something. Please don't sell your lovely looking Mysti . It would be a sad day for the CEG community...

Y are you gonna sell your car cause of a bolt not coming out?

A Bolt is a Bolt it can happen to any car..... Relax take your time.... get a second hand to take a look at it....

Usually when I rush to do something or when i try to get it ready for the next day, I end up messing up cause my mind is thinking about the next day... Hope it helps.....

Seriously. I twisted off both bolts on my left rear caliper brace (on the Maxima), and had to replace it because the bolts refused to be drilled out. Frustrating? Definitely, especially since I was a weekend without a car and had to go to five car parts stores to find one. Unexpected? A little .... but mishaps like this will happen on any car older than 5 years!!

You'll be equally frustrated with any car if you're getting that worked up over something that small. Trust me, I wanted to sell my Maxima at that moment too, but a night's sleep calmed me down.

The bolts have loctite on them from the factory.
As stated earlier by someone you need a good 1/2" drive 6 point socket and as long a ratchet or breaker bar you can use in that tight area in the wheel well. Leverage is everything if you don't have an impact gun.
