whats all of this "for a civic" crap?

I could build a honda civic in a week that would be faster then a stock SVT contour, you can get a turbo kit for those stupid cars for like $800. But I dont because building a honda civic is one of the most boring things you can do with your time.

I haven't done jack to mine and it would likely best an SVT (though mostly a drivers race) and that's with a lot less TQ and 2 less pistons. It's a tired argument.

boring isnt the same as hating. Honda motors are extremely easy to build/work on, give me any civic with a 5 speed and I can slap a turbo on it over night.

I have driven plenty of honda civics, I get why honda owners drive them, they drive nice, get good fuel economy and are inexpensive to service... What im saying is I just have no real desire to build a civic.

agreed on that statement, if I DID get a civic it would be an SI, but some people dont understand that newer cars produce more power then our SVTs because our cars are like 10 years old at this point.

either way, I stand by my statement, give me a civic and a week and I can make it fast for a smaller amount of money then it would cost me to do it to a contour SVT.

But I love my contour WAY more then I love a civic, even if it has its quirks and needs a couple of parts that I just havent cared to replace because they arent that important as of now.

The Civic has a huge aftermarket, so of course it'd be cheaper to turbo one...

I was watching top gear though and boy did they trash the new SI. They HATED it with a passion. They said it handled worse along with worse acceleration. They even hated the way it sounded vs the old ones.

At the open track event I went to I came out of a corner pulling on an Civic SI and halfway down the straight he started pulling back. Granted the auto might have helped, that and or the heat and or my seizing ac compressor, but they are definitely comparable to the svt.

:shrug: They hated the GT500 too but we (or I at least) know that doesn't suck.

Link? I'd like to watch it. The current Si is the fastest model to date, and most people like the handling (especially with the LSD now being standard, and not available on the last model). Exhaust note is great for a 4 banger. Most only complain about the weird dash.

There are other models available overseas too, was it one of those?

All I can add to this is my friend has an 02 SI with an intake only, I at this point pretty much have the same thing (so far, hehehe). Anyway, highway racing it really came down to hit the gas first, we wouldn't pull on each other but sit where we hit the gas. Was pretty cool knowing his bar is 4 years newer and even better knowing my Contour couldn't be passed, LOL.

I also remember seeing a sticker a few years back at the International Auto Show in NYC (Javitts Center), It so plainly said "Speed Kills, Drive A Honda".
