I have changed my plan of getting the bat european suspension. I have instead started thinking of going for a rally look and want to know what new parts are needed other than the new shocks, springs, bushings, camber plates, and brake lines. I want to give the car a 2 inch lift.

get 4 ranger springs.. with some koni struts... you should be set then...

hahahah, i wanna see pics of this when your done. before i got my svt i wanted a older awd celica with the bug eye headlights and i wanted to turn it rally.

LOL yea thats pretty crazy man, I thought stock was too high for that car...2 inch lift? Even if it is for rally, not gonna be a pretty tour.

Get a Blazer or Bronco chassis, fab up some mounts to put the Contour body on a 4WD chassis and you're done. You even get say you were the first to do a V8 AWD conversion on a Tour. ;) lol

Seriously, To get a 2 inch lift you will need a coil over setup with taller springs. If I were doing this I would use Konis, Ground Control coil overs w/taller springs, and McMaster-Carr upgraded bearings. Being as you are going higher you may not need the camber kit which I expect it would be better to use the stock upper plates.

You def would be the first on this forum to lift a Contour.

Im with Todars, WTF?!?!? You can't be serious, Rally cars are AWD... Oh and did I forget to ad "Rally Car" does not come to mind when think of a CSVT  "So are you going to take it off any sweet Jumps?"

And one more thing, if you are going to actaully attempt this experiment PLEASE do it on that SE or whatever that other Contour is that you have, NOT THE CSVT!!!!! PLEASE!

no its not an CSVT

no its not an CSVT

I have a 99 se I wanted to only give it enough lift so that my body kit doesn't scrape the high as hell speed bumps in the developments I deliver pizza to. I am not looking to go off road with the car just not scrape up and pull off my side skirts everytime I go over a speed bump. If one inch is a good height that I wont scrape my skirts and bumpers up I would be a lot happier. I was only considering a 2 inch lift so that I had the clearance to clear the 4 inch tall speed bumps these developements are using. I am tired of sanding smooth the scrapes and hitting the skirts and bumpers with touch up paint.

AND FOR THE RECORD ITS NOT AN "SVT" ITS A "SE"
I am also not looking for an off road rally car but a rally inspired suspension.

just learn to drive it better over bumps. If I can take my car pretty much anywhere with only 4" of ground clearance you can do it with your 7 or 8 on the SE

Yea you dont really need a lift kit to go over speed bumps, i've been over some massive speed bumps in my SVT before and never bottomed out, just learn to not hit the speed bump at an incline, you really shouldnt have to worry about hitting the body on an SE anyways......

I do hit the bumps no matter what with the c27 body kit the kit gives me only 3 inches of clearance. the kit was installed at a local paint and body shop. the kit went on in the stock mounting locations and had lowered the look of the car by just enough to start dragging on the bumps.

You might have clarified that in any of your origional posts.

So you're going to put a 2" lift on the car that has a body kit... Thats going to be the dumbest looking thing ever, post pics!

Actually... rally cars can be AWD/FWD/RWD and are put into the appropriate class. I believe WRC cars are AWD, but I'm not sure if it's a requirement. But WRC is not the only rally organization, there are several different ones. In fact I recently saw a FWD focus in a national rally competition.

FWD *can* be good rally cars... but I think the size (length, weight, etc...) of the Contour would make it less than an ideal rally car.

I am not looking to compete with the car just have some fun sliding around the back roads of my delivery zone. and still be able to clear the large speed bumps.

The stock SE suspension has tons of clearance. Put stock bumpers back on it, keep stock suspension. Buy some tall skinny tires and put some big mudflaps on it. Done and done.

Humm, sure....Never heard of it "actaully" BUT there is such a thing as "SCCA", which is road corse. if you want to consider *that* Rally then ok...
