1998 SVT Contour crank, but not starting...

The 20 Amp fuse F4 leads to the 4 pin coil connector VT/BK wire (purple) and pin. Wire 14-DA3 is it, see below. The 12 V power is switched on to Fuse F4 with ignition key through a relay, which turns on the PCM power as well, which reminds me, is the PATS red LED light blinking (on center dash or in the clock)?

When I put the key in the ignition to the ON position I notice a red blinking light by the clock. The KeyFob batterys are dead I would assume because they dont work.

PATS System

When you go to turn it over. Does the motor even budge?
If not get new keys cut and programmed to the car.

Yes, the car cranks. I am just not getting any spark. IE: The starter is kicking the flywheel and turning the motor over its just not producing any spark out of the coil.

So did you get the braided ground strap that goes to the coil? That runs to a ground by the DPFE sensor? Did you plug in the disconnected connector into the vac. on the back of the int. manifold? What else is missing or unplugged? :help: How did it all get this way?

I took a 10awg wire and grounded it to the frame of the car. I didnt see where it was supposed to ground to on the engine block since it wasnt there before. But the ground makes a good connection to the frame.

I didnt find where to plug that connector into the back of the intake manifold. I am unsure how it got this way. Everything looks normal on the car besides that one connector and the ground wire that I can tell. The car has been sitting for about 2 years. I put a new battery in it and tried to fire it up. It didnt fire so I tried replacing the most common sensors that the chiltons said to replace.

Perhaps since the battery hasnt been in the car the security module went into lockdown mode? It is the normal pcm and keys that came with the car...

If you can't find the connection that's 2" from the vac. solenoid then you have bigger problems. LMAO! Might want to find a local CEGer that knows how to work on a Duratec.

Another connection which is the IAC. Idle air control

Braided ground that runs down by the DPFE seonsor mounting plate.

Thanks for the pictures!

The other connections you show are connected. :)

That helped a ton. I will go out and plug that in.

Ok. no wonder i couldnt find it... The portion where you are supposed to plug that sensor into the back.... That portion is completely broken off. So there is no where to plug the sensor into.

So what else is broken in the engine bay? That car sounds like it needs to be parted out. Good luck.

That is the EGR solenoid, not a costly part. However, I don't think unplugging it would prevent spark or starting the car. Nice Photos, especially the ground wire to coil pack.

Since it's my old roomates car and I dont really have a need for another car I haven't even messed with it. It might be something as easy as power not getting to the pcm, a security thing, or as hard as tracing down multiple wires/taking it to the dealer. All that I know is that its defiantly something electrical and its not my car so I am not going to dump any money into it.

I would defiantly say that the coil not getting the 12v is a cause of the problem, but I am not familiar enough with this vehicle to even guess what that could be.

It ran prior to my room mates departure so I havent a clue.
