2007 Calendar Pics Submission Thread

not my car but my skillz...

toms car is the green machine!

reading through the entries so far and scanning people's comments, i've seen a few saying "more non-svt's." Well, you people without svt's need to go and take the same quality pictures as the people with svt's are taking (or svt-kitted pre-98's). the only calendar worthy shots of non SVT's (not including the svt-pre-98's) was Pole120's BLKOUT.
I'm curious as to what is unacceptable about the pics I posted here. Most especially the first reflection shot. I realize the last two might be a little plain, but the first three in the park with the fountain and the ponds, well I thought they were pretty good. I also think the rear 3/4 shot of frenchblue's pre-98 was exceptionally dramatic with the exaggerated lighting and shadows.

your pics were okay... but not that good when compared to some of the other pictures shown here. first of all, framing a car dead on sideways in the center of the shot is not very interesting. it makes the pic more like a quick snapshot rather than intentional. ideally, it should follow the rule of thirds. like that article says, its not that the car and background arnt interesting, its that the composition of the shot just isnt as appealing to the eye as one that would've been better composed. as far as the 3/4 shots are concerned, i just didnt think a baseball field was a good background.

i hope you arnt insulted by my honesty... it really wasnt meant to be an insult. i'm just trying to show you how they could've been better shots.

and remember, i'm far from the only judge for this calendar... so what i say isnt necessarily how its going to be.

You can't get a decent reflection shot in a pond if you aren't edge-on to it. And personally, I'd much rather see nice examples of the car than a spectacular background. If I wanted that, I'd go buy a calendar with nothing but landscapes.

i think there needs to be a good balance between the car and the background ... case in point, look at my calander pictures from last year, I was way zoomed out and they ended up using three different pictures to fill the page and get a little closer up to the car .... you can have a great shot of the car but if the bacjground isn't decent its not going to come out well so attention to the background needs to happen

but i also agree, the pics are nice shots of the car but the background takes away from the overall picture

Like i said before, there can be pictures with un-interesting backgrounds that can be made to look great just by the composition of the shot. Just look at these... the background is hardly interesting, but the pictures are phenominal because of the composition and the angle of the shot.

Here are my pictures. I had to use these ones because they were the better quality. I just threw the one from the other thread in anyways.

I can't see the photo (fototime banner instead) but, I bet its the one of your black SVT in front of the wall with the entire Texas flag upon it.

Just knowing you, the pictures you have of your car, and all.

Ok, fixed. You have me confused with 1314 the Eric from Texas. I live in Kansas!, so no Texas flag here!

It's more difficult than you think. Sorry I'm just frustrated because every park has been shut down (downed trees from the recent storm). The parking garage I have gone to in the past is under repairs and closed. :( Not much else in the aging city of B-lo- at least, you can't drive too long to find new spots when it's slushy out.

There's a road I know of as a last ditch effort. Probably going to get pics this weekend. :help:

Hey guys went on a photoshoot yesterday. Here is my submission. I know Pshop isn't allowed but I had to touch up the pic a little.
