It's not just about the HP numbers, though.

It's 270rwhp out of a car that had what, 130fwhp or so? That's a ton of power for such a small platform. I can't imagine it's easy to handle in the snow, but, damn would it be fun to take around an auto-x track.

perhaps, but it's not like you can't get a 4 cyl to make that kind of power these days. and since v8's in foci are somewhat old hat now, i'm not uber impressed. i mean sure it's cool, but if you're going to do it... DOOOOO EEEET!
 
ATI Motorsports out in Wixom MI did my spring/strut work back in the day and they did those conversions for $70K turnkey and the car they had was a FSVT with the Terminator motor, talk about overkill:eek: I will say this though, it was a sanitary install, looked scary stock!!!

I'm with you... it's still pretty cool to see, though. ;)

I'd love to see a Focus with a 454 under the hood, putting down 1000hp. The problem is the torque would rip the car in half without SERIOUS body stiffening.
 
I read over on the Focus boards that the stock body can hold up to 700HP before it needs strengthening, not bad for a little car...
 
why waste a perficly good Focus on a RAT motor? if you want a big block put a 460 derived engine in it.... the nice part about the 4-valve cobra motors is they are aluminum and the older ones are affordable. but no mater what you do you are still left with a focus... I mean I saw a v8 RWD Geo metor with wheelie bars but is was still a geo metro.

I will say that v8 focus was the best looking and sounding focus I've ever seen. why no v8 kit for a contour.... now that would be sweet...
