Are the drivers and passenger seats the same?

Is the FRONT drivers side seat identical to the passenger side seat? I know the side plastic cladding is different as well as the electric motors on the drivers side and not on the passenger. Im talking about strictly the seats. What im thinking is if they are the same, pick up a passenger seat thats in nearly unused condition (since most hardly get sat in), take off all the plastic cladding, and just swap the drivers side cladding and elector motor on. I'd really like to have the appearance of two 'brand new' front seats. Is this possible? Anyone done it?

Thats a good question. Apperance wise, the both look identical, but bolt and frame may have slight differences.

Anyone have a Contour for spare parts? You could probably take a look and maybe some pictures.

If I get a chance, I'll take a look. I've been meaning to move one of my seats up into the attic (pita, small hole wide svt seat) anyways.

I believe the seat itself is the same. The frame is different though for the mounting holes of the side plastics parts. I just checked out my mysitque ones sitting in my room.

I didn't get the seats side by side and didn't even look at the passenger seat but just looking at the driver side and thinking bout some things, I think you'd have some problems making it work. Not that it couldn't be done but you'd have to fab some stuff up. Probably a lot easier just to find a really good condition driver seat (no, mine is not for sale).

First reason I can think of is $$$$$$ I can get a leather front seat either side at the JY for $25....... with a bit of paitence you can get one in very good condition. Then of course one can just change the covering on a seat too. The trick would be to make a passenger side seat powered.

my 2 cents

Find someone to pick them up for you, then drive and meet halfway. You can get directions on Google Maps!

Now there's an IDEA, why the heck haven't I thought of this stuff before? I just must be getting old ..... ROFLMAO

I bet the northern route would be best we could meet in say Greenland. Who was it selling some snow tires on E1's?

Hey anyone Mondeo guys headded to the USA on vacation this year???? PM me.

Look into Arizen for some nice looking factory-ish racing seats. They're not the Fast and Furious look of some of the other seat styles and you can get them in any color as far as I know.

You can customize the color (solid, two tone), material (cloth, leather, vinyl) width between bottom and back bolsters, you can request a solid headrest or one with a harness slot. You can get them with heated seats (dual temp, tripple temp) you can even order them with massage. Prices shown on the site are for two seats as well.. Most sparco or recaro seats are that much for one.

Also, you can get just about anything you want in the headrest area.

Here's a pic I'm sure you'll like to see.
