While sitting around testing this theory of my wiring problem I decided to play some more. I dont really care for the big red strip that runs across the back of the car so I figured since I'm about to tint the taillights I might as well black that out as well.

Heres my mini how to.

Pop the trunk.

Locate and remove the 6 bolts that hold the panel in place 9 3 on each side), they look like this:

Also unplug the wiring harnesses you see pictured. You do not have to remove the bulbs.

Once the panel is removed it will look like this. This is when you use your Total Prep to wipe away all the surfaces you are going to paint.

Using blue painters tape mask off your chrome trim.

Once your all taped up, spray your panel. I justed dupli-color interior paint for plastics.

Once you've let the panel dry completely unmask it.

I know its not all high tech but hopefully it helps someone on the forum.

Here is the basics. First the product I use to tint the tails. Its 5 bux a can and the small can can do several sets of tail lights. I did my EVO and just did my Con. The little red handle is a god send for applying the tint.

Pull back the truck liner as so:

Loosen the 3 bolts:

Unplug the bulb by twisting

Off course wipe it down with the Total Prep.

Once you have done that if its cold use a heat source to warm the surface

AFter a few coats. Several thin coats is WAAAAY better the one or two thick ones.

And the finished product

LOL, wasnt implying you didnt know what you were talking about bro, just didnt want folks to go asking for paint and being turned away thats all.

one thing that you forgot ... you should use something to seal up the reflector and the tail lights ... chances are the seal will not seal once removed ... if you don't seal them you will have water leak into the trunk ...
