Well i broke my drivers side axle the other day and today i got it all taken apart and went to go punch out the broken piece inside the diff ( Torsen ) out the drivers side from the pass side..
It will not move. the piece inside the diff feels like its broken as well. ive tryed everything to get it out..from hammer and flat head to long bar and sledge.

Does the torsen has a bar inside the diff like the stock one..I dont recall..
Any pics?

If you have a stock diff you can use a long screw driver and punch the axle out by fishing the screw driver in from the other side of the transmission. It's by far the easiest way to do it as long as you don't care about pulling the other axle. It wouldn't work this way with any after market diff though.

Try driilling into the broken axle, then screw in an "easy out" till it makes a firm connection then pull out the broken piece. Use one of the larger sized Easy outs and don't put too much of a side load on it or it might snap.

If you could in some way use a slap hammer with this set up it will help alot. Overcoming the circlip locking the axle into the diff will be tough to over come by just pulling straight out.

I was under the impression that the Torsen/Quaife will not allow you to punch the axle out from the other side. I'm pretty sure you can't see through them like on the stock diff.

You won't be able to punch it out - If it were up to me - I would weld a nut to the shaft, screw in a bolt - and put a come-a-long on it. I almost took out my snap rings for this very reason - there is not point on having a snap ring holding in the CV when it has absoutly nowhere to go in the first place...

Good luck - what were you doing when it let loose? We you able to drive it with a broken CV?

You WILL be able to punch it out at least with the Quaife. I snapped an axle and took the pass side one off and punched it out. There is no bar in the middle like the stock has. Just take a long piece of metal and a hammer and pound it out. I did this also when I pulled my tranny to get the drivers side out. No problem what so ever.

The Torsen has a solid center; you can't punch the axle out of a Torsen from the other side.

Wrong i thought the same thing and i pounding on the diff..Theres a small hole in the middle you can stick a Flat head or Phillips head in and touch the axle and just tape it out...
