Broken Door handle.

This morning while getting out of the car (or attempting to), the driver door handle just gave out. I pulled and it felt like it 'popped' out. I tried to open the door from the outside, and it could not. It wont even lock. THe whole system is 'limp' and unworking.

help!!!
 
update, seems the outdoor handle does work. Just not the inside. The door will lock too. However you can't tell because the inside handle unit seems to be busted.

you figure its just unhooked somewhere? I'm not familiar with how they're connected (out/inside handles)
 
Remove the trim piece that goes around the handle. Just rearward of the handle you should see a cable. Does the cable move when you pull the handle?
 
Taking off the trim piece will only take a minute and will let you know what most likely needs replacing. That way you can buy the part before tearing everything apart. The most likely problem point is where the handle meets the cable. The handle plastic could be broken or the cable snapped. The inside handle has almost no connection to do with the outside one.

bingo. Wasn't as easy as I had hoped to remove the actuator. It was kinda a pain in the butt. but $5 part from the wrecker (ford didn't stock any), and done!
