Could have sworn I posted this yesterday...

Decided to go back to SVT Cams in the turbo to wake it up a bit.

How long does it take to replace the cams and chains while the engine is in the car? I am fairly good at the mechanical end of things and I am sure Brett would love to help me. Just need an idea of how long.

It would be nearly the same amount of time to remove the engine and reinstall it. I'd say about 6-8 hours. Probably less if you know your way around. Timing the engine while it's in the car sucks. Say 2-3hr to get down to the cams. 1hr to remove caps/cams/timing equipment and mark it correctly. 1.5hr to reinstall and time. 2-3hr to get it all back together.

should be able to be done in a day. Installed headers and SVT cams in my SE at the same time and it took about 10 hours. this includes dropping the subframe to make the header install easier.

We had 6 months to put them in, and now you want to do it? Jeez..

I'm with Blackcoog. 6-8 hours is a pretty good estimate. It is a pain though. Don't forget to use the SVT guides and tensioners too. I could just see you forgetting to swap those and throwing the chains in. SVT timing gear obviously too.

Good luck if you attempt it! I'm sure your engine bay is clean if it was just out recently, but make sure it is spotless on the frame around the timing cover.
