Can higher wattage bulbs damage the housing?

I know people are running HIDs in the stock housing, that certainly runs hotter than the stock bulbs, right?

I have these bulbs that I was running in my old housings ( and also the '96 I had before ), just wondering if the 80W rating can damage the housing due to extra heat?

HID's do not run hotter. I'd say they run much cooler.

Yes, halogen bulbs with a rating much higher than factory can damage your wiring harness and possibly the housing if they get hot enough.

For bulb replacement, and not hid, run the OEM wattage, i've seen people that try and run like 100watt headlight bulbs, well HOPEFULLY it'll just pop a fuse, but if you're dumb, some have put in bigger fuses which leads to entirly frying your headlight harness. Lots of magic smoke.

HID's run cooler? I never knew that... Maybe I'll a HID retrofit kit? >_<

But yes, I'm definitely in the market for some Polargs then.

I'm not worried about the harness, I had these same bulbs for over 3 years ( over 2 cars ), and no issues. But the I'm worried about my shiny new headlights... :(

I melted the shizzle outta my stock plugs running some purdy blue bulbs....
