Car Got Keyed...

Someone can key my car. I'm always down for new paint.

Sucks if you don't have full coverage though! I didn't have full coverage but luckily I chose to pay $10 extra per month for comprehensive which covered acts of vandalism, theft, fire, etc... but they totalled my car out and paid me for it cause the paint cost more than the car was worth! I had to buy my car back and then pay for the repaint with the money I was given. Nowadays with the low value of SVT's, they won't give you enough to even cover a decent paint job.

If you don't piss anybody off or know who might have done it, I am curious if this is a case of mistaken identity.

man 2 morons from my highschool basically tar and feathered my car cause they thought it was funny i was so passionate about my car. they saran wrapped my car and floured it. dumba$$es...they left finger prints on the car and i knew who it was anyway so when the cops showed up i said it is probably these 2 idiots. sure enough it was them. the state attorney had some fun as when he asked me what i wanted to do(being pissed off as well) i told him to throw the book at them. he did. both received 1 week prison, some program for messed up people, 6 months monitored probation(the police would check on them weekly or something) and a heavy restraining order. if i had even the slightest problem they would both get 1 year jail time.

im still picking the crap out of my car 3 years later. flour + water = concrete in every crevice of the car. i cleaned it for 2 days straight and just couldnt get some of it off. i almost gave the police my car to be examined and compensated for the inconvenience but they wanted my car for a few days. too much of a pain in the butt.

Yeah, everyone seems to think it's a case of mistaken identity, since it was only my car and the more expensive, newer cars next door were right out in the open too. The only person I thought was even remotely possibly connected was the neighbor's kid, because he's a punk and hangs out in the back alley where the car is. But the cops said he had an alibi for the night it happened.

Just talked to my insurance company. We apparently cheaped out on the deductible. It's $500. So the money I worked for and saved gets to be spend on this bulls**t. I'm wicked pissed.

In high school some kids smashed in the front window of my Ranger in the middle of the night. It's the worst when you have NO idea who it could have been.

Aside from electrifying your car, there's not a whole lot you can do to prevent these random attacks.

Best of luck bro.

Well, my luck got worse. I caught a rock or something on the Mass Turnpike right in the windshield and it took a nice ding out of the glass. My insurance has free glass repair, so I called and had an auto glass company stop by my house to fix it. Turns out the little hole picked up some stress fractures with it. The whole windshield needs to be replaced, which has a $50 deductible. So in a matter of a couple days, I've racked up around $1500 in damage, $550 of which I'm liable for, from no doing of my own.

I had relatives who were having problems with vandalism (not as bad, just shaving cream in the mailbox, smashed pumpkins on the porch, etc). A cheap webcam pointed through the window recording an image every second, and a floodlight on stopped the attacks. I don't know if you can view your vehicles from the house but it's an idea.

It wouldn't be as bad if you had half a clue why it was done, but to be victimized like this is so frustrating. Good luck.
