Does anybody know how to bypass the video switch so that I can drive while my wife can watch a movie in the front seat? (I know its illegal)

The install calls for the wire to be installed on the grounded side of the park brake. (but I don't want to drive with the park brake in the first notch) I was just curious to know what the wire is looking for (12 volts or ground) I was thinking of splicing the wire straight into the red power wire. Or would this work?

If it is anything like my 935vd then all you need to do is ground the green wire and your done

I'm going to install it on Wednesday (when I get time) I'm pretty sure clarion doesn't change their wiring with every pasing year.

Thanks guys!

Ok, so I didn't get the stereo installed yesterday, I am today however. The reason why I didn't was because of UPS. (They didn't even bother knocking on my door for the first attempt) Anyways. I am also installing the nax970hd navigation harddrive. It calls for a tap into the ecu directly. So now my question is.

Which wire is the "engine control computer vehicle speed signal line" in the ecu?

I'll have a response for you here in a little bit... just got do some reading on the unit and post some more replys.... back in a sec.

For the parking brake bypass.. you'll want to take your "grass-green" parking brake wire... connect it to a switch, and connect the other end of the switch to the black ground wire on the radio. This will provide the necessary ground to activate the watching of video, the switch will allow you to turn this function on and off. The manual states that you may have to turn the parking brake off and then on when parked to get it to work.... so the switch will allow you to simulate this action, also this switch will allow you to switch the video off should you get pulled over by authorities... you can go... impossible for me to be watching video... it's disabled... yay....... so yeah... make sure you test it first though before you completely install it so you can make sure it's the ground that triggers it...

I dont know how similar this unit is to mine but like he said it is a grass green wire. all i did was ground it with the radio ground wire because my unit has a button on it that turns off the screen display:laugh: so no switch is required

Switch is a good way to save your ass though if you get pulled over....

Plus some units require more than just grounding the trigger wire, some require a sequence... so some need the switch....

if it just has the one wire that is supposed to be hooked up as a ground to the ebrake switch then there shouldnt be a sequence needed. I just looked up the unit and it doesn't appear to have the monitor button like mine does so if you would like to be able to turn off the monitor then you would need a reg 2 prong toggle and hook the green wire to pne prong and a good ground to the other prong and you will be good to go

I installed the radio yesterday and I had to place a toggle switch on the green wire. this works perfectly because the stereo sometimes gets caught up and needs to be reset "so-to-speak" and then it switches from audio to video no problem

Does anybody know where the Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is on a manual transmision? Is it the black plug directly below the air filter box? (if it is which wire is the vss+) I need to tap into this wire for the NAX970HD to work properly.

Behind the gauge cluster, in the second connector, pin 5 (on the 2.5L) White/Blue, or pin 6, White Blue, should be your VSS signal wire.... Or if you really really want to, you can run a wire to the PCM pin 58 white/violet. I'd suggest the gauge cluster wire hookup, I'd think it'd be much easier.... Just make sure you test with the cluster plugged in, and use your multimeter to make sure it's the right wire.... I'm assuming this will require driving around to test it... I'd tap the VSS wire and hook my multimeter up to it after you put the cluster back (not fully reassembling the dash granted) Just so you cane make sure it's the right wire..... Be careful and try not to break anything...
