So I attempted to clear the headlights today using the cotter pin extractor method. I got the first tab out but then only managed to scratch the chrome a little. The back two tabs didn't look like they were going to come out, it only appeared that the reflector would snap leaving parts of the reflector attached to the tabs. Any suggestions?

Drill out the tabs from the back side. When finished (cleaning crap out of the light) fill holes with gray silicone.

Seriously if you cant do it correctly with the cotterpin extractor then you shouldnt work on cars.

Drilling is lame and the worst way to do it

Only for those with no skill, patience, or aptitude. It is no different in final results then the method you are claiming as the best. The heat smelted tabs have to be removed one way or another to release the reflector. As long as the method does not tear up the light it will have the same final results. Hello common sense!

Why drill when you don't have to? ya the drilling method will have the same results except with 3 holes in each headlight

Who cares... Unless you plan on selling your headlights anytime soon.

Have you seen some of the Ghetto crap thats on these forums? I dont think drilling into the HL's is that big of a deal.
