I believe I am in need of a clutch. On any other car I would do this myself, and have when needed. There has been some discussion on various threads regarding problems with some aftermarket clutches. I do not race the car nor drive the sh*t out of it so I have been able to get 155,000 out of the original clutch. It is not slipping but I believe all of the adjustment is gone from the T/O bearing and it is begining to cause the shifter to be difficult to engage 1st gear from neutral at times, but if I turn the key off it slips right into gear easily. This leads me to believe the clutch disc (worn and now thin ?) is still spinning even though the clutch is fully depressed. I get no unusual noises but occasionally it feels like it is trying to creep, or it shudders lightly with the clutch pedal on the floor. SO I ask: Compared to an OEM FORD factory clutch disc and pressure plate (if needed) is there anything to be gained with some sort of aftermarket (Spec, LUK, etc) disc and or pressure plate. Secondly, are ther any places to rent the required engine support to allow the trans to be removed?
Thanks in advance ..........Rick
