Was the contour or mystique your first motor vehicle? The first car you've modded, first car you've purhcased? First car you've had an accident in? First anything?

For me, this was the car I had my first date in with my now soon to be engaged (to me) girlfriend, ;). I had my first fender bender in this car, my first speeding ticket in this car, my first road trip with my buddies in this car, lol ya, I also got this car used off a very nice used car dealer (LOL) but this car was problem free (thanks to CEG :) - moosing was a huge problem),

1998 Mercury Mystique LS - Silver Frost
First Car
Used (160,000km @ date of purchase, currently 260,000km)
Bought in December 2003

First new car. Owned this car the longest (10.5 years), and therefore spent the most money on repairs and maintenance. First red car owned. First V6 owned. First car with airbags owned. First car with ABS owned. First car with 4-wheel disc brakes owned. First car with power locks owned (and remote entry). First car with Power windows owned. First car with power seats owned. First car with flip down rear seat backs owned. First car owned where appropriate oil level is critical on long sweeping right hand turns  .

Edit. Forgot about first car owned where alternator is at the bottom and first car owned which came with its own resident animal-The Moose  .

The Contour was the first car I drove regularly ("third family vehicle" purchased a few months after I got my license in December 2000). First car I bought and whose title was in my name was a '95 Probe GT in 2002, then the Contour became mine in 2004. Bought the Maxima in 2005 - it has easily been the most reliable out of all three vehicles.

To date my parents have helped with any vehicle purchase I made. I'm looking to buy a CSVT as a toy "someday" and that will be the first car I purchase Completely through my own finances. That was going to happen a few months ago but moving to Boston changed my plans due to parking constraints (won't have a Ford as my only car anymore) and cost of living out here.

My CSVT is the first car that I financed and have purchased all my own!! First car vandallized   ... First black car.... CSVT wasn't my first car.. she is my 6th... none of my cars have been recked or stolen, just bought then for cheap and sold them for a profit... Family in the car business helps this.. FIRST CAR THAT I LOVE!!! All the rest were justs cars....

i learned to drive in a 95 mystique.

first car i "owned" was a 90 new yorker, that my parents got for me but the svt was the first car i purchased myself.

i bought the mystique in may 2003. it was my first car, the first car i bought/owned. had my first date/other things lol...first burn out, first road trip, first accident, second accident lol....

it was the first car i modded, its been a lot of firsts. i cant imagine a better car to have all these first happen in.

My Mystique was my first and still only new car. My wife has had 4 new cars, which I've mostly paid for, but my '98 Mystique was the only one I got to drive off the dealer lot with that new car smell that was all mine.

It's not that I couldn't afford a new car every few years if I want one but my Mystique is still running great and I just don't see any reason to get rid of it. My annual income is definately not an indicator of why I still drive it.

I've had used cars before I bought the Mystique and those were more or less a financial issue. I also bought one used car after the Mystique but that was probably more of a midlife crisis than anything else. It's a Viper RT/10. Guess which car gets parked in the garage and which one stays in the driveway. :D

my white 98 contour GL was my first car.. and i loved it.. when it came around to wanting more power i almost got a probe GT.. but i went with the contour SVT. and i love it more and more.. but it hasn't stopped giving me problems since i've got it.

-My first car was a 1992 Pontiac Sunbird with a 3.1L V6. Paid $1300 for it and then $1200 to get it fixed ($575 of that was from where I bought it).
-My second car was a 1996 Mercury Mystique 2.5L V6. That car was awesome. I had it for 2 years and treated it like my own baby until I got rear ended on vacation.
-With the insurance money I got a 1998 Mystique 2.5L V6 to replace the first one. It ran really good, and still does.
-I just recently bought a 2000 Contour SE Sport 2.5L V6. This car is currently in the shop for miscellanious switches, a cel, and a fuel level sending unit. Other than that it runs great and very fast.

On a whole I love the Contique. It is a nice sized car with plenty of get up and go. I've never had any serious trouble with any of my Contiques (other than these few problems with the current one) and the next one I get has to be a SVT.

My SVT is my first car and it's been a pretty good one. Easy to drive on the track, useable power(not too fast for the street), and very good handling.

While I still like it, I think it's time for a change. Next year I'm thinking about finding a used Corvette FRC or waiting for the '08/'09 Camaro.

My SVT was my first:

-5 speed
-Car I dropped a substantial amount of money into
-Forum I took part in because of
-Car I've taken extreme care of

I'm sure theres many others...

First car I bought/owned, basically

My first ford, stick shift, I4, first car I tore into, you name it it was my first.

I bought my old sweet ride with 100669 miles on it, drove it till 137K and owned it for 2.5 years. In that time I sunk a lot of cash into it, keeping it running and modding. I loved it to death and watching it go was one of the hardest things I ever did. I couldn't handle being there when the new owner drove it away, so I had my mom take care of transfering the title, I was at work while this took place.

My mom told me the guy that bought the car said to my mom "I have never met a more knowledageable teenager in my life, most teenagers just drive the car and if it breaks dont fix it... I dont even take this good of care of my cars"

Made me feel good to know my work didnt go unnoticed. (see signature)

I made myself sad :(

Whoa Neil! Need a UIM/LIM rebuild there. A little bit of water or sand and the wheels spin easily from a stop for me.

I just did it last year! :D

Well, if you use a substance to free up the wheels, I can understand. I was just saying I could never chirp the tires in the atx on dry road. Mind you, I've only tried this once where I held the brake and reved it to 3 grand and let go, and got nada!

Not that I'm looking to do this or anything, just found it interesting with the zetec.
