Contour/Mystique was it your first?

my 99 svt is the first car i own. as well as modded. before i had my moms old car witch was a 96 dodge grand caravan. that car took a beating. 3 transmissions, new ECU, 3 crashes. one witch should have totaled it. i only did one of them. and i toped that car out a few times. felt like it was gunna fall apart. but in the end it was in great shape! for 118,000 miles. i sold it for $2300. i do miss it

Well my '95 SE was not my first car , which means my CSVT was not my first either - but my CSVT was my first brand-spankin'-new car  .
My first car was my '63 MG Midget Mk.1 - my latest aquisition is my '66 Volvo 122 , and there were a whole mess in between  ...

I've owned an MG , a couple Triumphs , Chevys/Olds cars , IH Scout2 , Dodge , several VWs (air & water) , Fords , several Volvos , a mini , a few motorcycles and some other stuff I can't remember  .
Good lord man! Sounds like you and I share a similar affliction. You can add a 96 'Tour GL to that list too.

My Contour was not the first.

First Car: 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible 289 V8 2v = 14mpg

Second Car: 1997 Acura Integra GS-R = Very quick car and 31 mpg

Third Car: 1999 Honda Civic Si Turbo = Extremely quick car and 28 mpg BUT STOLEN BECAUSE IT WAS SO RICEY

Fourth Car: 1998 Ford Escort...the lamest car I have ever driven...sold 2 months later to my brother

Fifth Car: 1998 Ford Contour SVT: The coolest car by far because of its rarity..and my first V6

Sixth Car: 1966 Ford Mustang Restomod...still working on it but will be a 350 hp Honda/Acura/whatever else eater

(Soon to be - as soon as I sell the SVT) Seventh Car: 2001 Buick Century: Inherited from my Grandmother and it only has 24K on it. Literally driven by a grandma and it still has a factory warranty...I have to sell the SVT first since I dont have the driveway space.

All in all, the SVT has served me faithfully the past 4 years I have owned it. It is by far the most fun car to drive. If I had the chance to buy another Contour...I probably wouldn't considering Ford made them so crappy and they break way too often. I mean my fuse box blew up! WTF FORD?!

You blame Ford, but your cardomain page says...
I bought this Ford Contour SVT back in November of 2002. I "saved" it in a way because the previous owners (despite owning a 02' lightning and a SVT Focus) treated it like crap. I purchased the car for $7000 flat with 76,599 miles on the OD. This is the list of what was wrong when I purchased the car...
Maybe that it was treated like crap had something to do with the problems you've had?

the 98 svt contour was my first car i bought. i bought it in cash when i was 15 years old(just turned 16 yesturday). anyway, Ive had to get alot of things fixed on it such as rack and pinnion, water pump, the whole svt body kit had to be replaced(and we all know how much $$ the kit costs overpriced IMO). But finnaly sent it to get inspected last night and after spending dime after dime trying to fix it. it fails!!!!! im so mad right now with it. It needs a new windsheild,SVT rear bumper, wheel barings and some other little stupid things.

It sure sounds that way  . I'm a car nut , what can I say ?? Maybe I just get bored with them ... or maybe I just wanna say I've owned a little bit of everything ?? There are a few I wish I still had , and some I could take or leave . It all evens out in the end .

ywp my first was a chapaine 1999 se atx zetec with like 18000 sum miles put in a sound system since performance sucks for that car i hit a curb and my dad straighten out the back and then i backed another car into it also it rolled like a buick.

now on my 1999 se sport v6 mtx which handles amazing and is being made into a svt plus im a better driver now and dont hit things anymore
