Cougar install G2G next weekend!

I'm headed to the mechanic, my ****in shift link cable came undone/broke. my car is stuck in 2nd gear. the shifter moves around freely like a god d*mn joy-stick. :mad: :mad: :mad:
 
Are you sure the cable end came undone from the shift tower... and that the tower bolt didn't sheer? If it's just the end, then that's cool.... but if it's still attached, then the tower bolt sheered, and you don't want to drive it... or else you'll end up with a hole like Bobs tranny!!
 
Oh yes, that can be catastrophic! Check the plastic cable ends on both the shifter and trans ends. Specifically check the cable itself, and make sure it hasn't stripped itself out. You will then have your answer. In the meantime, do not drive it! If I'm up there this weekend, I'll stop by to help if you want.

I wont drive it anymore i took it to a shop (lube/tube/mechanic) only cuz it was super close. They're trying to tell me its something internal (in the trans.) i am 90% sure they're wrong. the car only has 67k nothings grinding/making noise its just the action between shifter/tranny so it cant be INSIDE the tranny. i'd appreciate any Local help because i'm completely in the dark when it comes to transmissions! :nonono:

From what they're saying, it's probably the tower bolt. *Shouldn't* be that difficult to fix... they just need to make sure they get the bolt head out of the tranny case.
 
I'm going to try to be there by 5:30. The Contour is at Justin's house. You guys think he'll need a new tower, or just a new bolt?

Greg: You're going to be there too? That would be cool!
