Was talking with CSVT1214 a while ago about the custom wing on his Contour. Wanted to get a mold created and some of these made, but didn't have the time. Anyone want to take up the project? I'd be willing to buy one.

The last pic I really don't care for; I think it would look much better if the supports came out of the trunk vertically instead of at an angle like that. Maybe it wouldn't be too hard to alter the mold slightly? (I have no idea about fiberglass fabrication.)

Here are a few other things CSVT1214 said about the spoiler:

I think I am going to make a pre-typed response from now on about the spoiler. I get asked about it all the time.

I bought the spoiler off of eBay from a seller that made I think a total of 10. I bought one of the last ones and I think I'm the only person on CEG with one. The seller has not relisted any after that. The seller information I have is now useless. They don't have a an eBay account and I looked up the company online and didn't find a thing.

I get someone offering to buy the spoiler at least once a month.

The spoiler is made of 100% fiberglass but very very strong stuff. My car got rear ended on the highway at a dead stop (long story), and even though the spoiler didn't get hit directly, it still took a huge beating but did not get damaged at all. The car that hit me was going about 50-60 MPH. Then a month after the car got fixed, my neighbor, learning how to ride his motorcycle, came out of his driveway too fast taking a turn, and didn't cut the corner enough. Rear ended my car while it was parked. His head with a helmet on, smacked the spoiler really hard scratching the sh*t out of it, but no physical damage at all. Just to give you a little idea of how well it was made.

It also has a LED light bar in the center for a 3rd brake light.

Look for one from the last model celica. That should be cheaper than getting one custom built and it is the same style. It may require some fabbing for the mounts but definitly easier than making the whole thing.

umm, so what are we getting at here?? are you asking one of use to produce this spoiler?

Umm...well, if anyone's interested, I wouldn't object! :)

Actually, I met up with WorldTour today and mentioned this wing but I don't think he had seen it, so I just thought I would post some pics.

It will depend on interest. I dont know but this is my oppinion that for the svts, the spoiler only looked good on silver. For me it just never jived with any other color but silver, maybe its to do with the black bottom on the rear bumper, but i would hate having a spoiler on my car..just my oppinion of course..

I think the towers are to high, i would remove the 3rd brake light, and move the spoiler back on the trunk lid more.

Edit; looking at it more it looks tacked on to much, maybe if the towers were spaced farther apart as well.

hmmm - I saw a sunfire with an aftermarket spoiler on it, looked just like that one.... icky..

I agree with Goonz, I never liked the spoiler on the Contour, except for this one black SVT in the Registry.

I have to find it and post the name.

It's under Hotblack98 in the registry if you search for 98.5 SVT's.

I don't know what it is, but that one side shot really does the car justice, very classy.

But in the end, I think I still would have liked this car better without the wing.

Exactly what I was thinking.

I know some like the spoiler and others don't. The pictures really don't do justice at all. Certain angles, I don't like how the spoiler looks either. Looking at it from down low, the spoiler looks to high and thin.

If you look at the car at normal height it looks awesome. I think I may put that trunk lid back on soon. Right now I'm running a Pre-98 trunk with lip spoiler. My friend is using the trunk with spoiler on his SVT right now. I'm going to have to steal it back from him. I have 3 trunk lids to choose from.

Here is a couple more pics that didn't get posted:
