deeper exhaust sound

I am wanting a deeper exhaust sound than what is coming from my SVT now. I have removed the resonator and am getting ready to replace the mufflers. I was wondering what sounds the best? I have been looking at either some flowmaster 40 series or some magnaflows. If anyone had any suggestions through experience please let me know. Also if I go with flowmasters I will be getting them off of ebay at $60 apiece shipped, Is that the cheapest I'll find them or is there somewhere else to look?
 
please do not get flowmasters. PLEASE.

Get a quality muffler like a magnaflow. Its going to cost more than a magnaflow, but at least you know your getting a great muffler.
 
go 2.25 ALL THE WAY with no resonator (replace with 4inch round) and have a good muffler like said and you'll get that sound. If you want it deep, it'll sound deep with your OPEN air filter + if you have your UIM/LIM cleaned.
 
I just got a pair of Magnaflow's on Ebay for $110 shipped and had them put on yesterday as well as the resonator taken out. Sounds Awesome, Better than I thought it would for not going with Catback just yet. So that's what I'd suggest. There's a tiny bit of rasp when I rev it up fast, but i'm hopeing that goes away as the mufflers break in more.

I have the same set up, and yes the rasp should go away. It only rasps on me if I start it up and accelerate quickly above 3k before the car is warm. But you shouldn't accelerate quickly above 3k before the car is warm anyways, so it is a great setup for sound in my opinion. Not much horsepower gain though, maybe 3 hp if we're lucky from the res removal and better flowing mufflers.

Alright...Flowmasters don't sound good on tours....I should go with a magnaflow....Where I can get the 4" round thing for the resonator replacement....Gut or don't gut the cat....2.5" or 2.25" piping.....And I'm not really looking for that much of a hp gain. Just something that is going to sound awesome and help the car to run better.

Dont gut the main cat. Replace it with a resonator or a straight pipe. Feel free to gut the precats though. Go with 2.25" piping. You can get magnaflows from magnaflows website (obviously ;)), ebay, or other websites just by googling magnaflow.

If you really want deeper, a 3.0L will definetely give you that.

well i guess thats what i was getting at. i guess i didnt think there would be a big difference. I'm actually putting a main cat back on my car :( ... but only because i plan on headers & borla cat-back later.
 
Ok so if the main cat is removed I need to replace it with a straight pipe...What do I do about the O2 sensers? And the resonator is already gone from a previous owner and the replacement was horrible done. I am definately wanting to replace all the piping after the cat and put in new mufflers. I guess that I'm going to use the magnaflows, but which ones are they? But while I'm having this done I might as well do it all. How do I go about gutting the precats. Will anyone replace the cat and gut the precats or is that a personal project.

i think it sounds friggin awesome
