F-1 Racing

we will have a 2 wk old baby at that point, so count me as a definite maybe.

are we thinking F1 Boston or Racing America in Foxboro. i've heard Racing America is better. longer track and less money.

ive done both and F1 is by far way better than racing america...and i heard racing america has closed its doors, also F1 outdoors is a lot tougher to get a race in, i called and they were booked for 3 weeks last summer

interesting! that means room for a new entrant. i like F1, but the track time is so short.

any word on that full-scale road course planned for Palmer? did that get approved?

Okay, so July 7th seems to be the best date for people, so far. Can we get a quick head count for who can come on that date, so that I have some information to give them when I call the track? I'd like to call by the end of this week, if possible (hopefully they won't already be booked up).

Well kids, I heard back from the track. This isn't going to be terribly cheap. The most affordable option is this:

"Mini Grand Prix"
3 10-lap races and 15-lap final race
$75 per person
8 to 12 people in the group
Drivers are randomly placed in various grid positions in the first three races so that each driver starts from the front, middle, and rear portion of the line up. Points are awarded based on where a driver finishes in each of the three races. The final is then comprised of those top drivers who have the most accumulated points from three races. Depending on, the size of the group, not all drivers will necessarily make it to the final.

So, everyone will get at least 30 laps, and then the top finishers get to participate in the 15-lap final.

Are people still interested, given the cost? I will need a solid commitment from those who will attend, since I assume that I will have to pay the fees up front to reserve the date/time for us all.

The next option would have been to reserve the track for an hour, which is $1,500. Ouch.

Let me know......Hey, if it all falls through, we will still be more than happy to host a the BBQ at our house in Wakefield that we were planning on as an after-party.

ouch, I don't think I can do it for that price in good conscience after all the crap we've been blowing money on lately.

What about Elky's suggestion?
Is it really necessary for us to reserve the track?
i think the best day would be a sunday, since i think they offer a deal like $20 for 20 laps or something and you dont have to reserve the track.

If that's what people want to do, that's totally cool by us. From what I can tell on the website, it's $10 for a Day License plus $25.00 for "Arrive & Drive." It doesn't say (at least that I can find) exactly how many laps that gets you.

But given that they are reserving the track for people (if we were to reserve, she waid they are already booked up until 3:00 PM), will they have room for us, might we have to wait a long time for our turn to race, or have to wait until after the people with reservations are finished? I have posed this question to my contact at the track, and will let you know when I hear back. (And I'm a poet and didn't know it - Lol).

Ok, here's what they said:

"With the arrive and drive racing, we cannot guarantee availability because of the amount of private events we book. You can, however, prebook arrive and drive racing through the front desk 48 hours in advance providing someone either has an annual license or purchases one."

Given that they are already booked until 3:00 PM that day (and it's still a month away), I am afraid that they will get all booked up, and calling 48 hours in advance might not really help us.

I don't want to cancel the whole idea, but I don't know what to do. $75 is a lot, although I might (or might not) be willing to pay it. Anyone else have any thoughts? Do people prefer to just postpone this idea until a future date, and just have the BBQ/party at our house instead on July 7th? That's only 2 days after Jason's 30th birthday, so that's as good an excuse for a party as I need. :)

i have my F1 licence if you want me to prebook at anytime, everyone just needs to paypal me ahead of time so i dont get fooooooked...if we go on sunday its $20 a race for 20 laps...back to back races is a good time($40 per person for 2 races and trust me after 2 races you will be spent!) if we get 12 people we will be the only ones on the track (me and my buddies use to do this all the time) if we go on a saturday or some night during the week its $10 for your day licence then $25 per race for 15 laps($55 per person for 2 races that last 10 minutes but its so worth it)....the only good thing about that is that if you prebook for like 9:30 pm during the week, they usually hook you up with extra laps cause the place is dead...but sundays are definately the best time to go and i recommend back to back races on track 1...track 2 is kinda week and your forearms will most def. be on fire after 3 laps!

let me know if this helps or if i can help more cause F1 is 20 minutes from me

so my suggestion would be to pre book for a sunday...like i said back to back races is awesome but i know my GF will only do one, 2 races will make you have your fill...let me know if you have any questions because i have literally been there about 100 times

added note: me and my buddies use to go every sunday and before we got smart we would just show up (12 of us) and would have to sit around for like 2 hours until a race was open to fit us all in...so prebooking is the best way to do it and i dont mind fronting some money to people who dont use paypal i just really dont want to get stuck with a huge bill cause its non refundable towards the people who didnt show up

Please see my posts above about the cost of booking the track for 8-12 people versus showing up (and only being able to "reserve" 2 days in advance) for Arrive & Drive. The way the woman from F-1 explained it to me, we either have to book the track specifically for us at a rate of $75 per person......or do the Arrive & Drive (where they cannot guarantee anything) at $25 per person plus $10 each for a Day License. The latter is not a bad deal, but not being guaranteed a time is not good, especially since they are alraedy booked up until 3:00 PM that day, and we would have to wait for all pre-booked parties to be over before we get our shot. I suppose we could just try to reserve the Arrive & Drive 2 days before we want to go, but I suspect that the track will be completely booked by that point.

Do you have access to some deals or info that she is not telling me about, or do you have older information? Your numbers/information and the numbers/information that she gave me don't seem to match up. (Not being rude, just trying to get to the bottom of it all.)
