F the police

One of the first times I was approached by a cop with the lights flashing was to pull up to my window while I was sitting at a stop sign to tell me "Nice car! I've got one too!" and then just drove off. <--- My face after

He showed up at my job a couple months later with his SVT and asked if I wanna run it.

Not directed at the OP but......
Police officers need to do their jobs. If you want to rant, hopefully it's a legit rant. Not, "I've been speeding everyday for 5 years, and have never been stopped. This a-hole pulls me over for doing 90 in a 55. WTF?"

If you choose to run illegal modifications for your state, that is your choice, just know you run the risk of being ticketed. I removed my front plate on the SVT because I hated how it looked. I live in a state where it's required. If I get stopped and ticketed, do I have any reason to complain? No.

I agree with this 10%. YOU do the crime you pay for it. No complaining about it.

I dunno how anyone can say cops are crazy? Everytime I've gotten pulled over I was breaking the law, be it speeding, loud exhaust ,driving like an idiot etc. never once have I got pulled over just to check me out. Over half the time i was polite and admitted what I did I was let off with a warning and no ticket. if it was your job would you just drive around and ignore law breakers or bust them?

The problem arises when you run into a cop that's being a dick.

Example: A few months back, I was pulled over on the interstate in the dark and got a $70 ticket for illegal tint. The cop tailed me for a mile or two (I was doing 5 under the limit in an area with no traffic) before finally pulling me over, and he was a jackass about everything. He then matter-of-factly told me that I need to get my headlights aligned, they're pointing straight down. No, Officer Dumbass, those are my foglights. Totally a dick.

Last week I was pulled over in the local Ford dealership's car lot while checking out a new Fusion. The officer explained Iowa's tint law, tested my tint (14%!), and made recommendations about what to do with my windows, then gave me a fix-it ticket. Totally not a dick.

Two officers presented with similar situations choose to act differently.

I understand that my tint is in violation of the law, and that I am expected to follow the law whether or not I agree with it. I just don't like cops that for some reason feel the need to powertrip.

Slow learner??????

Slow learner??????

original post

Thats the damn truth. On of my mazdas didnt have a license plate light or even have the wiring for it like the other one did so I never thought about it. Until I started visiting my girlfriend and got pulled over on the way up and way back every single time usually by the same cop both times each weekend.

Dang you are a slow learner. I'd have fixed that after the first time.

He he he

Going 66 in a 65 is a crime and it's dangerous (that extra 1mph over the speed limit means it takes longer to stop). Would anyone be justified in complaining about receiving a ticket for going 66 in a 65? Hell yes.

brighton cops all mostly pricks a few are alright but i wasnt even speeding at the time so he was just looking for something to nail me for he flowed me threw town and stayed right next to me so im gonna take it to court

If it had been a ticket I would have been in more of a hurry to splice into my wiring and add a light but he admitted he couldnt ticket me for something my car wasnt equipped with. I just didnt like getting hassled for 15 minutes every time I made the trip so eventually I screwed a random light to a license plate frame and put it on.

The cops around here tailgate you to see how you react, to make you nervous and see if you make a mistake.

I've been told thats called "baiting" and they can give you a warning but not a ticket after making you do something. Of course their word against yours is going to say he drove up as you were doing something ticketable.

I agree...but i was referring to those people who go 80 in a 65 etc etc.

Like how i got a ticket for going 28 in a 25 :help::blackeye:
It's a BS ticket.

So at what point is a crime a crime? I've had my 14% tint for approaching two years and I've only received one ticket for it, despite being pulled over for the tint and other numerous reasons several times. Where's the line drawn? Can I complain about 28 in a 25 but not 31 in a 25? 32? 33?

general rule of thumb I have heard it your allowed 5 over before one is normally stopped for speeding. but that isn't anythign consistant.

Good question....so when do you want to vote for a change :help::help: Right we can't...:blackeye:

Wait i got a ticket.i fought it and i won. I know that my speed is a crime. MY opinion can be given...i don't have to agree with everything that is held against me.

Can I complain about 28 in a 25 but not 31 in a 25? 32? 33?
You have the god given right to complain all you want but it doesn't change the truth

lmfao @ the doucheyness in this thread. i've been driving loud cars in michigan for 19 years now and have NEVER received a ticket for loud exhaust. and i'm not talking about some ricey POS contour with an aftermarket friggin muffler.

my guess is this kid was doing something to get the cops attention, and he wrote him up for what he could.

I know of 3 cops around here that drive SVT's. I'm a cop , and I drove a turbo charged SVT until a week ago. Remember, we have bosses too. If your supervisor says "We are getting a ton of loud exhaust complaints..take care of it". Then as the "messengers" we enforce the rules where the complaints are. My SVT had Bassani cat-back on it. I kept the inserts in it, because it is obnoxiously loud w/o them. In a zero tolerance area, a Bassaani w/o inserts is excessive exhaust noise. Just another shining example of just how thankless a job I have...Your welcome!

You would think that the cops would have "poper criminals" to keep them occupied, instead of smacking a motorists wrist for having a non standard exhaust, but that might be a bit too much like real work, wouldnt you say?
