my beautiful pre-98 trunklid.. mangled by the morons at fedex... here is some damages and a few words.. :) first estimate..
Body Labor
180.60
Paint labor
193.20
Paint Supplies
110.40
Total Cost for As shipped condition..
$525.84

and they only pay back what the trunk was sold to me for (not $525.84).. wtf.. if some ******* hits my car he has to pay to get it fixed.. even if I bought the car for 20 bucks... you'd think their insurance would have to cover it.. not mine.. wtf.. so basically my trunklid is "Totalled" in the eyes of FEDEX..

anyways i can't find any pre-98 "t-red" trunklids that match my paint in the first place.. and at 300 dollars to get it painted to match.. I see why so many CEGers don't do the pre-98 trunklid swap..

Alright I'm feeling better now that I have vented my anger. i dunno if I'd trust a pillow being shipped through FEDEX right now though.. buncha Richard Craniums working there..!

they foled a poster of mine and it looked like crap. call them and have them come out and show them what they did

...****. Now I wonder how I'm going to get Alex's from Michigan. Meh, I'll see how much insurance I can get on it from the shipping company.

definately get the upgraded insurance.. and tell the guy you are sending it to that if he has to call FEDEX that he should get an estimate if it gets to him jacked up.. then just say it costs more than the estimate says.. like mine.. if I had told the stupid ***** that my trunk was worth 600 bucks and I bought it for 600 and if the shipper bought the 600 dollar insurance.. which is like 15 dollars... then I would get everything paid for by fedex.. but instead all I get is my money backand what does my shipper get? NOTHING?? a trashed trunk that costs 500 to repair? anyways.. never hurts to buy some vasoline just incase fedex wants to go to town on your ass though..:)

just to clarify..

I get a busted up trunk..
my shipper chris.. he gets the $$ I paid to buy+ship the trunk reimbursed from FEDEX TO HIM..
so now he will get my money.. and I have a busted trunk.. WTF !! doesn't that seem like a buncha horse ****?

i told you i will get you another trunk lid.....at no cost to you.....at all....i still feel horrible about it, that was a beautiful trunk lid when it left.

I will NEVER ship anything FedEx. I had an $4000 printer that I had to ship off for service. At the transfer point 60 miles away from me, it "disappeared." Now, we're talking about a box the size and weight of a 12 year old kid. FedEx insurance is completely worthless. It took me two months to get what money I could back out of them. Basically, they ended up costing me somewhere on the order of $6000 by the time I bought my replacement printer (I lost $2500 on the insurance payment for the "lost" printer, and then had to pay another $4000 to replace it). Worthless f**king POS b@stards!

[blackball] AVOID FEDEX AT ANY COST!!! Ship USPS, DHL, or UPS! [/blackball]

theres nothing wong with fed-ex. the same thing could've happened with any other shipping company. you just have to remember that with any shipping company, any car parts and exhaust components are "undesireable" items to ship. me personally, i only use fedex. (unless the choice isnt offered)

I dont think i have ever heard anything good about FedEx ever. UPS and USPS is like a million times better.
Not really.

Once I got 4 brand new 17" Enkei rims shipped to me. UPS seemed to toss the boxes around and when they arrived, they were like broken boxes. 3 wheels were ok, one with chips on the lip. UPS took 3 months to investigate and then claimed it was not properly packaged so no damage claims. They shipped the rim back to the shipper across the continent, in an alternative box which was even worse than the original. If the original package deemed insufficient, and they did it again?

I had to pay another shipping again just to have the shipper send it to me.

I got another set of new rims from one place in MI. I forgot who's the carrier, but not USPS/UPS/FedEX. Maybe DHL? The boxes arrived intact. Much better service.

no I know chris. I'm just venting.. I have faith we will get this settled..

he packaged it better than I would have.. nothing else was damaged except for the edges..

i was about to say, ups seems like the ones that throw the boxes around. nothing ever comes pretty from them. the box is always in bad shape. fed ex on the other hand seems better from my experience. a shipped my laptop to hp, them back to me 5 times both ways on a warranty repair and everytime overnight and nothing wrong.

it's not really the drivers who throw stuff around - it's the people who load them on the trucks. i've done it before myself. your mission is to pack as many boxes onto the 18 wheeler for cross-state transport as possible. those trucks are packed floor to ceiling, back to front. sometimes it's not the package handlers fault, sometimes it is - the point is that every shipping company has their shipping guidelines to ensure your stuff doesn't get screwed up.

if that trunk was sent in a box, it was packed wrong. imo it should be crated.
