Probably going to take this job. Entry level software engineer for a company in middletown, ct that does tests on smaller airplane engines and gearboxes. http://www.testlogic.com

I'm pretty fired up for health benefits too! The other company I'm waiting on is a position for microcontroller programming and electrical engineering of large scale fire alarm systems. Not as exciting and the interview didn't go that great so the first one seems like the winnar!

Everyone should share my current excitement!

Nice!!
When did you interview with the fire alarm place?
(just curious how long its been since you've heard from them).

Yesterday. They are going to let me know early next week. I was so excited I forgot to ask the company with the offer when I need to let them know by. Gotta call them back and find out!

Congratulations! I now know three people who work with things airplane-related. Sounds like a good field with growth potential.

(Assuming that's the one you accept ;) )

congrads!!! health benefits help alot...start your 401K as well..Im only 21 and im putting in a hefty percentage of my paycheck into it already!

Regardless, congrads on the job offer and hope all goes well..

Hey gooner..you would think that someone making the money you do would know how to spell "congrats"
hehe

but anywho...Coldquarters...good luck!!

I hope turbo's are still for sale next year  Thanks for the nice words everyone!

Funny story about this. So I call back to verify how soon they need to know by. I called the guy I've been dealing with, also the CFO, and I get someone else. I tell him I'm really big on the job, but I just wanted to hear from other places I interviewed with first. You know, standard practice. The guy goes nuts on me and is like...oh I don't think I like the idea that we are a 2nd option to you etc. Eventually he's like, yeah I heard good things about you so I'll just tell the guy you're looking for that you called and have him call you back. So an hour later I'm talking to the CFO and he's all cool about it. Telling me I need to see whats right for me and to take my time, but let him know in a few days. Also turns out the guy who flipped on me was the President of the company! Yowsa! I was nervous thinking he was just some shmuck there! Good thing I didn't know he was el presidente! I might have cried.

You probably shouldn't have mentioned that you were entertaining other offers.
oh well

You gotta weigh in more factors than just benefits and money when you're choosing the job that's right for you. I know you know that, but I feel like saying it anyway. :p

I got 3 job offers out of college. One of them was a top accounting firm at the time.
I declined their offer because I got the impression during the interview that I'd just be a number and not a name at that company. I really liked the people I interviewed with, but something just didn't seem right about the job. I knew I wouldn't like working there.

When I declined their offer, they were dumbfounded (I guess because they got the impression I liked them, and well, they were one of the Big Six). They asked me what they could do to change my mind. They offered me more money, alla that, but I turned it down because the other place just suited me better.
If you're happy with your work, you'll do a better job, and eventually you'll get recognized for it and the cash will flow in.
Your happiness and sanity are the most important things to consider.

Yeah, it was stupid on my part because I actually really like this place alot more than the one that hasn't offered yet. It was just one of those things...just incase they offer me some ridiculous salary that I couldn't turn down. But that has minimal probability, so I think I'm making a good choice by taking the job.
