Ford Racing RS8 Focus (No 56K)

Although...
Beyond that speed, our Focus pulled away, tripping the quarter-mile lights in 12.7 seconds at 113.7 to the Lambo's 12.9 at 109.8. This same Gallardo, however, launched identically, has run as quick as 12.3 seconds at 117 mph in previous tests. What gives? The car exhibited no signs of driveability woes, and we noticed no bananas in the tailpipe. Our local Lamborghini experts diagnosed a mysterious fault deep within the throttle-by-wire system. Sadly, as of press time, replacement parts had yet to be swum in from the old country. Round Three: Draw.

I just saw that this past weekend on Woodward, he pulled into the Auto Zone parking lot Saturday night, right next to a 95' Escort RS "Cossie", what a combo:drool:

I think you could build one for around $25,000 or $30,000 if you used a pushrod 5.0L V8 and some used parts. The engine alone in the RS8 is $14,000.

As cool as i think that is, and as much as i respect the work and the project itself, for $105k to throw into a focus and your just tailing a Galardo, thats not a very flattering sticker price per the performance.

Now that's what i'm talking about, if i had the money for either, i'd go with the 03' Cobra powered focus... cept i'd put it in a ZX3, lower it as low as possible on coilovers, with a mach1 lip as only 'dress up' and steelies up front, with cut and widened 10" wide steelies in back. so apart from the rumble and the big fat meats you'd only see from the rear, it'd be a total sleeper!

so then, it is possible to do this in a contour.. it just proves that it takes a lot of money. next CEGer to win the powerball ... this is your mission

When I was out at ATI a couple years ago they had their version of the RWD/V8 FSVT out there and the guy told me it would be $70K to have one built for a customer, so I wonder why that one is $35K more:confused: IMO the people that buy a car like that will not miss $70/105K anyways and are probably tired of the rodding scene, can't blame them one bit!
