fuel rail help/possible for sale

I've driven the car a good 300 miles or so, I called the shop and asked him how much for a tune, which he told me between 400-500 dollars. I was also told by someone else that spending money on a tune is pointless if I have a contour computer, cuz at the highest potential the car will run as a 2.5 liter, with .5 liters left unutilized. This is using an excalibur unit. I was wondering if I should try to swap the computers out (although I was told that I would have to change the entire wire harness as well) Is this true or would I be able to just unplug the contour computer and swap it with the taurus computer. And then tune that one? (if it needed it) Any knowledge and/or insight you guys/gals could give me, I'd appreciate it. I'm wanting to hold on to this car as I just feel that it's so close to running the way it should, I'd hate to give up on it before it's time. Thanks.

You might want to consider posting in one of the other forums specific to your question...you'll then have access to people who may have more knowledge about pcm tuning than just this region...otherwise, you might just be getting "best guesses" instead of real help...:)
