ok everything's conected like stated above except the shift linkage to the tranny .. and i get into the car stick the key in and turn it " to the on position" and all the lights turn on like normal .. then when i turn the key to "start position" and i press the clutch down it's like im not pressing it down .. nothing happens as if i have the clutch up ??? im stumped thats it .. also i have a hose off that i have to have better daylight to see where it goes i'll also look into the manual im guessing it's a tranny hose by the tip of it .. anyway any help would be great .. thanks to everyone for getting me this far ..... i sure needed the help .. lol

Just posted this in the other pulsewheel thread you posted. I think your picture is confusing, and does not show the correct wheel, just like the contour manuals ive seen.

That picture does not help much of anything.
Good point that the wheel must orient the same as the timing cover - I left that out. The pic I attached shows the wheel in the 2.5L position, which can be summed up as "missing tooth opposite key-way".

BTW, on a 2005 Escape motor, you can't use the Escape timing cover and must use the one from the 2.5L. And therefore you have to flip the pulse wheel. Which is a pain in the butt with the motor installed and takes about 6 hours. And don't bother trying to leave the motor mount (and coolant res) in place if you have to pull the TC - just take it off from the start cuz you'll have to anyway.

Don't start on the pulse wheel yet.

If the engine will not crank, as I think you are describing, look at the clutch switch and the wiring to the starter. It sounds like you are not getting power to the starter or to the starter relay (the solenoid mounted to the top of the starter). Don't forget to check engine ground.

hey yeah that sounds right and for clarificaion the pulse wheel is correct i checked with 2 other people and took a pic of it b 4 i droped the 3.0 in .. but thats what a guy i know at ford thinks ... he says im not getting power to the starter or the clutch switich isn't getting anything ... the starter is easy 2 c so i will get back at you guys when i check it out tomorrow night ... thanks a bunch.....

Hmm, the 05 escape cover changed then. I used an 03 escape cover, which works in the contour, and has a cleaner belt routing IMO. The escape pulse wheel is the same orientation as the 2.5. I did not know that, and originally swapped it around, only to find out it was wrong.

you might checkout aircougar's post concerning a similar issue in an ATX->MTX swap. there are a couple of switches on the clutch, and if they aren't set correctly, no start.

engine over-revving.

engine over-revving.

Anyone have any info on routing of the various intake, crankcase and evap tubes? I have the firewall side valve cover tube routing to the big (upper) inlet on the intake accordion and the radiator side valve cover routing to the small inlet on that side of the accordion. The other hole in the accordion, which I thing might've been for the vacuum booster, I plugged up. I have the brake booster and the vacuum regulator solenoid thing connected to the the two small nipples on the back side of the Taurus intake and I have the fuel evap line connecting to the small nipple on the underside. I capped off the gigantic nipple on the underside of the intake.

Can anyone confirm or deny that this routing is okay? Thanks.

it had a heart attack, is it dead ?

it had a heart attack, is it dead ?
