I have a electrical one in my mustang, the sending unit crapped out this year on the way to the track, i thought i lost oil pressure and had to take the car home. It cost me a potential win, and a class championship. It just ended up being the sending unit. keep it in mind if you intend for BIG things with your 'tour. Im planning on "T"ing and running a mechanical in the engine compartment.
I would rather have my sending unit go out and spring a leak and ruin my motor..Yes i hear were your coming from when you have no oil pressure on your gauge you think theres no pressure in the car..But i would rather this than have a leak in a line and blow the motor.
Buddy of mine had one in his pod and was driving his car..700hp 88mustang daily driven..Nice car till he sprung an oil leak inside.Oil everywhere..Hottt too..Big mess took forever to clean
