Genesis Coupe. I <3 you

Get your Z car and I'll get a Hyundai and with the $ I saved I'll reinvest in mods, then we'll see whos is better.

What do you mean "better"? Faster? More reliable? Better looking? More heritage?

Good opinions, but mine are biased by the latest in design and functionality as part of my career as a web and interactive designer.

And also by the fact that you own a Hyundai.

Thats still a rumor though. There is no way the v8 will cram into that engine bay (unless a tuner does it).

Wait...an automobile manufacturer with millions of dollars and an army of designers and engineers can't accomplish something that an idiot with a garage could?

More like they wont. The Genesis is the grown up car and people expect a nice v8 to compete with BMW, Mercedes and Lexus. The Coupe is a young adults car and they wouldnt sell that many v8s compared to the sweet v6 or the impressive turbo 4.

I saw a genesis sedan this weekend and was reaally impressed by how it looked. Very classy IMO. I even had a friend who doesn't care that much about cars go "wow this car is really nice..its...a hyundai wtf???"

Ah. I'm still confused as to which engine is supposed to be the "fast" engine.

oh rly? well since you insist I guess my point is....

which one my SVT or my 89 Mustang (modded) ?

In the looks dept. I'd take the SVT over the Hyundai

In the go dept my Mustang would eat this cars breakfast and it would also look good doing it

The v6 has as much horsepower as the NEW v8 mustangs. And I have a feeling it handles better as well. Once the ecoboost engines come out, that is another story.

And you are saying that your SVT contour can beat a 300 hp RWD car?

It will still handle better though. Ford needs to get in gear (pun intended because of their 5 speed compared the 6 speeds) and get their base v6 engine up to 300hp if they want to compete with the GC and Camaro in this entry coupe class.

More heritage?

I'm sick of the Z fanboys going on and on about heritage. It seems to be their end-all for any argument that the Z falls short in to something their high horse asses consider below them. Congratulations you bought a :censored::censored::censored::censored:ing Nissan you dumb :censored::censored::censored::censored:s!

Phew, glad I got that off my chest.

I remember driving a friends 300ZX that had the random electrical issues they were plagued with and I always thought "man they need to work out the bugs in their Z cars". That car was always fun to drive but the chance it might not start up when you wanted made it so not worth it.

This def is not my style in cars. But none the less the car does look good. Wouldnt be a car that I would buy or drive in the future.

i believe you missed a key word in his post.....MODDED '89 mustang.....i've owned several modded fox bodies, the fastest which ran mid 12's....and also had suspension mods to help with handling....

as far as the genesis goes its pretty cool, and definitely a step in the right direction for hyundai....still looks to me alot like a cross between a tiburon, and an altima coupe ....also i agree with others cool car but not something i would buy or be in the market for...

A possible dealer option model. None of the pork, all of the beans....or something like that.

While the car they brought to the show is basically a concept, the R-Spec package will be available through dealers and will give performance junkies more in some areas and less in others. The full list of equipment is in the press release after the jump, but the highlights are a 210-hp turbo'd inline-four that returns 30 mpg and a top speed of 137 mph. Available only with the six-speed manual, it comes with stability control, ABS, electronic brake force distribution, 19-inch wheels, Brembos, a Torsen limited-slip differential, a beefier suspension and summer-only Potenzas. To reduce cost and weight, the R-Spec doesn't include Bluetooth, automatic headlights, cruise control, trip computer, chrome interior accents and steering wheel audio controls. Basically, the R-spec is packing all the heavy-hitting hardware from the Track model and ditches the frippery that drivers and customizers aren't interested in.

The Genesis Coupe R-Spec will be available mid-2010 with a base price of $23,750, or $3,000 less than the 2.0T Track model.

win-win IMO.

210hp in a ~3300lb car isn't that impressive. My 3.0 has a much better power-to-weight ratio, but I'm sure it will have a fairly strong aftermarket and most owners won't let that 210hp won't stay at 210 for long.

Exactly. They saw that a huge market was missing when the 2g DSM went away....an affordable turbo coupe for a younger buyer. Then again, you can also get the car with the v6.

What is all that? A pound? Maybe. Seriously, half that stuff is basically software.
