Damn dealer charged me $35 to get the number. Same dealer that sold me the truck. I was pissed.
Well..... install bays and dealerships would charge as well, (probably more at a dealership) probably would of been around them same price, like 30 mins of labor time, which is about 17.99 for every 15 min... figure how much time it takes to find the tech sheet on it, check the vehicle in and out, get the code, call the code in, get the code, put the code in, and that's assuming everything goes off without a hitch....
So yeah.... the stupid newer GM's can have a new radio put in without using the GM09 as long as they don't have RDS. If you don't use the GM09 though you lose door chime..... (since it's integrated with the radio) If the stock radio has RDS you HAVE to use the GM09, otherwise you can use the 70-2003 I think, Could be wrong with that part number, it's the GM like 2002 and up harness.... the accessory just has to be rewired for the after market radio to turn on.... Which is really not that hard to do, just fuse the proper accessory wire from the ignition and your good to go....
An like the other guy said earlier, the GM's have Double DIN or DIN an a half radios usually, Ford contours are just DIN, unless you have that guy who made the dash piece for has in dash DBL DIN radio, relocated his HVAC controls to the center console under the E-brake.... You could put an older GM radio in, but good luck putting a newer one in...
