So, I am over at svttour's place playing with our toys (in adult speak that would be working on our cars) and I am looking at the Silver E0 3L he is building / selling.

I notice that the driver's windows controls are different from my 2000. I noticed they had a better tactile feel im my oponion that mine.

Well fast forward a couple of weeks (today) and svttour and I are out checking out some junkyards. We found plenty of Contours / Mystiques of all varities but no SVT's.

One Gen2 (sorry 98+) White Contour was in pretty decent shape. Just about every option you could get without being an SVT. I notice it has the windows controls in it are the same in the CSVT svttour is selling. So I take them out.

Once home I take off my door panel and disconnect my window controls, only to find the connectors are different, hence the name of this thread.

For those interested, the one on the left is the one from the junkyard, the one on the right is from my car.

ARGH !!!!

Sorry for rant here, but I had to vent. Oh well. Glad they only cost me $5.00.

So, what I want to ask here is.... is there a way to make this work???

so they changed the connector and then discontinued our beloved vehicles, sounds like someone at ford was just bucking for a raise or promotion at the time!!!

the raised switches where only available on the 98's ... you can just swap the buttons otherwise you need to swap out the door harness.

I swapped the buttons myself ...

sure, pop button out of old switch, pop buttons off "new" switch and re install ...

use a small screw driver or something similar to carefully pry the buttons out, once you have one out wou will see how they come out.

also all but the drivers flat window switch will fit the 98 switch because of the difference in how the one touch down works ...

its really easy, should take less then 5 minutes to do ...

Will the 98 Drivers window button, fit on the 2000 switch though??

yes ... I said that the other buttons will not fit on the 98 drivers switch ... the one touch down is a two step button which needs more space in the button then the flat buttons have ...

just swap em and be done with it

Yah, I pulled a 98 window switch out and it was like the one on the right...damn years..
