Government shutdown

This should be fun. All the people I work with are addicted to cigarettes and scratch off lottery. For sanity's sake I sure hope that something gets worked out before their reserves wear out!
 
I think since the taxes are going to have to be raised, i think they should tax cigs and liquor, not gasoline. also i think we should put a tax on fast food. with all the people eating it, a small tax on it would help out alot. i was talking with my aunt though , and she says she remembers the day that the state had to shutdown before and said it didnt go that long. hopefully this is going to be the same way

Taxing cigs liquor and fast food is not the answer. I am sick of the state falling back on the smokers to bail out the state by raising taxes on the basis that maybe more of us will quit smoking. and they want to raise the income tax to 4.6 percent from 3.9 and add taxes on certain services. i wonder if anyone has looked at the average income of workers in the state now versus back when our economy was good. maybe thats why we dont have the money less income=less income taxes.

As bad as it is getting here in michigan you couldn't get me to move to canada if you put a gun to my head. from what i have heard taxes ar close to 50% over there and i hope you dont need surgery while your there because you might die waiting for it.
 
You know, I used to consider myself more of a democrat, due to a lot of my views leaning more in their direction, but as I have become older (and somewhat more educated), I have realized that both major political parties are the reason for the constant downfalls of our government. I'm not happy with the way our Governor or our President has acted throughout either of their terms.

I think that the Senate and the House should voluntarily purge themselves for this screw-up by doing an Expulsion. Recalls currently aren't guaranteed or even allowed by the constitution, so there isn't much of a point in lobbying to do one. If we are in favor of recalls, the smart thing to do would be to lobby for an amendment to the constitution.
