And the trunk latch is broken. And I can't remove the backseat because the hardest bolt to get to is stripped. Any way to get back there or do I have to call a locksmith and have a new key made? Was going to be close to $300

Can u take the latch handle off & use a pair of pliers n pull the cable to open the trunk. Or if u can get the back dash off to get to the knobs to drop the seats down. Thats what I would try. Good luck
P.s. After u get them go get a spare key made

Car is too old to get a new key from Ford.

Tried with a hangar and one of those claw thingys. Gonna call a locksmith today. Thanks for your help guys

If you pop out one of the side bolsters in the rear seat is there a crack big enough for you to look into the trunk?

Wait a sec, I seem to vaguely recall someone being able to unlock the trunk when they locked their keys in the car. I recall someone laying on the ground under the car and poking something in the trunk latch. Or does the trunk cable run under the trunk and you can pull on it from under the car? Is this possible or did i just dream this?

I sometimes use the tire iron pry bar side to pop the bottoms out of the clips, that makes it easy ;)

lol....I'll give it a go.

worse comes to worse I needed a new key anyways. the one have is starting to get brittle.

Hahahahaha, awesome .

How much room did you have to look into the trunk with that bolster removed?

oh not much at all....little more than an inch maybe. I wedged my flashlight in it to keep it open while I used my claw thingy to miraculously grab the key ring.

oh and it turns out my trunk latch wasn't broken at all. I FLIPPED THE RED SWITCH. NEVER FLIP THE RED SWITCH :hammer:

^

Oh boy, that's funny.

Just enough room to weasle your way in. Do you think you could push the back side of that seat tilt knob to release the seat to tilt? Probably not enough room.....

I did this too not knowing what it did. Also found out at the same time that my trunk key cylinder was frozen! All while in the middle of my motor swap with parts in the trunk.. Talk about a set-back.

I think another option would have been to get another remote and program it to use the trunk release button. Cheaper than a chipped key, you can get used remotes for fairly cheap.

The bolster was a neat idea though, glad it worked out.

ya but he would have still needed his key to turn the accessory on to program the remote. & if he had his key he would have just been able to open his trunk..
